Role Summary
The Project Manager is responsible for leading healthcare infrastructure, technology, and low-voltage scopes of work from pre-construction through final close-out. This role oversees safety compliance, subcontractor coordination, bid and change management, scheduling, budgeting, and collaboration with healthcare clients, general contractors, vendors, consultants, and internal teams.
The Project Manager will support projects involving hospitals, medical centers, outpatient facilities, clinics, laboratories, and other mission-critical healthcare environments. This position serves as a subject matter expert and trusted leader, integrating technology solutions while maintaining quality, financial performance, regulatory compliance, and schedule adherence across assigned projects.
What You’ll Be Doing
Core Responsibilities
- Manage healthcare infrastructure, technology, and low-voltage projects from pre-construction through commissioning and close-out
- Champion and support a strong safety culture, promoting an injury-free work environment through leadership and mentorship
- Coordinate technology design and construction efforts to meet constructability, quality, financial, technical, and healthcare-facility standards
- Work effectively within active healthcare environments where patient safety, infection-control procedures, security, system reliability, and operational continuity are critical
- Participate in pre-construction efforts, including RFP reviews and subcontractor, consultant, manufacturer, and supplier coordination
- Partner with the pre-construction team on scope validation, bid leveling, contract negotiations, procurement strategy, and project planning
- Review and manage change orders and pricing with Project Engineers, subcontractors, and clients
- Manage subcontractors and suppliers, including communication, scheduling, reporting, quality control, and performance tracking
- Coordinate site activities, job walks, project meetings, and reporting with healthcare stakeholders, jobsite teams, and general contractors
- Provide technical leadership related to design-assist, installation, commissioning, and network and systems integration
- Oversee applicable low-voltage systems, which may include structured cabling, telecommunications, audiovisual systems, access control, video surveillance, nurse call, real-time location systems, and other healthcare technology infrastructure
- Develop project-specific scopes of work, responsibility matrices, schedules, and execution plans
- Review quantity takeoffs, obtain pricing, and assist with developing accurate budgets and hard bids
- Manage project budgets, costs, forecasts, billing, profitability, and financial projections in alignment with project goals
- Support OSHA, union, healthcare-facility, and site-specific safety and compliance requirements
- Lead, coach, and motivate project teams in a proactive and collaborative manner
- Track and report progress against project schedules, milestones, budgets, and deliverables
- Identify project risks early and develop appropriate mitigation and recovery plans
- Ensure all project documentation, testing records, commissioning materials, as-built drawings, operation manuals, and close-out documents are properly maintained and archived
Additional Responsibilities
- Manage the technology consulting and coordination process with healthcare clients, facility representatives, owners, architects, engineers, consultants, and contractors
- Coordinate work around active hospital operations, shutdown schedules, occupied spaces, and other sensitive healthcare requirements
- Identify and support emerging technologies aligned with smart hospitals, connected healthcare environments, and intelligent building solutions
- Collaborate with sales teams on new healthcare technology offerings and market opportunities
- Maintain professional expertise through continuing education, industry involvement, and networking
- Support the recruiting, onboarding, mentoring, and training of team members as the organization grows
- Foster positive relationships with healthcare organizations, local municipalities, civic organizations, general contractors, and union partners
What We’re Looking For
Experience and Qualifications
- Eight to ten years of project management experience is preferred, ideally within healthcare infrastructure, technology integration, low-voltage systems, or commercial construction
- Demonstrated experience managing projects in hospitals, medical facilities, laboratories, outpatient centers, or other regulated and mission-critical environments is strongly preferred
- Experience leading complex, multimillion-dollar projects from pre-construction through close-out
- Strong understanding of healthcare construction requirements, occupied-facility coordination, infection-control protocols, shutdown planning, and operational continuity
- Knowledge of low-voltage systems, structured cabling, security, telecommunications, audiovisual systems, network infrastructure, or related building technologies
- Experience managing subcontractors, vendors, engineers, consultants, and internal project teams
- Strong understanding of project budgeting, forecasting, change-order management, cost control, billing, and profitability
- Experience working with general contractors, healthcare owners, architects, engineers, and facility representatives
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, technology, or a related field is preferred; equivalent industry experience will be considered
- PMP, BICSI, RCDD, CTS, healthcare construction, or other relevant certifications are preferred but not required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong project management capabilities within healthcare, technology, low-voltage, or complex commercial construction environments
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to deliver effective presentations and lead client, contractor, and project-team meetings
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project management, scheduling, documentation, and financial-reporting tools
- Strong budgeting, forecasting, cost-control, and risk-management skills
- Proven ability to manage multiple stakeholders, competing priorities, and complex project schedules
- Ability to remain organized and decisive in active, sensitive, and mission-critical healthcare environments
- Strong attention to quality, safety, documentation, and regulatory requirements
- Self-starter with excellent follow-through, sound judgment, and accountability
- Team-oriented leadership style with the ability to build long-term professional relationships
