Project ManagerJob SummaryThe Project Manager is responsible for executing project engineering initiatives within operations facilities. This role leads cross-functional teams to develop facilities that meet safety, environmental, quality, business, customer, regulatory, and technical requirements. The Project Manager collaborates with stakeholders to define requirements, develops facility and equipment layouts, prepares project estimates, supports business case development, manages engineering firm contracts, and coordinates construction, commissioning, and training activities.Responsibilities
- Drive capital expenditure and improvement projects to align with organizational goals and vision.
- Lead stage-gate projects with internal and external resources, investigating options and gathering information independently.
- Apply project management tools effectively and develop new project opportunities.
- Coach less experienced engineers in the use of appropriate project management tools.
- Understand core process areas, unit operations, and control technologies to support project execution.
- Collaborate with internal and external resources to drive project execution.
- Develop project cost estimates using historical cost information and contractor/vendor quotes.
- Create and manage project schedules.
- Contribute to process safety analyses in equipment design and project scopes, ensuring compliance with company policies.
- Develop and present recommended options and solutions to leadership.
- Lead project commissioning and start-up activities.
- Assist with project cost control and financial tracking.
- Manage project schedules and budgets to achieve project objectives.
- Supervise contractors and subcontractors across multiple disciplines, including engineering, civil, mechanical, electrical, and controls.
- Train multidisciplinary teams on new equipment, processes, and safety requirements.
- BS or MS degree in a business or technical field.
- 5+ years of experience in construction management, engineering, process technology engineering, process engineering, manufacturing, or operations.
- Strong project management, problem-solving, and value-creation skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and MS Project.
- Experience in architectural projects and project execution.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in parallel and coordinate numerous interfaces.
- Experience supervising external engineering firms, contractors, and subcontractors.
- Project management, including planning, organizing, budgeting, scheduling, and quality control.
- Multitasking, prioritization, and efficient time management.
- Process technology, facility design, layout, and drawing interpretation.
- Capital and operational expenditure management and cost control.
- Resource and schedule management.
- Knowledge of building and regulatory permitting processes.
- Strong organizational, communication (written and oral), and presentation skills.
- Team leadership, coaching, and mentoring capabilities.
- Collaboration and flexibility when working with stakeholders at all organizational levels.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving in ambiguous environments.
- Ability to align process technologies with manufacturing requirements.
- Business acumen, analytical skills, and data-driven decision-making.
- Bias for action and ability to work under pressure with independent judgment.
- Degree-qualified professional in a business or technical discipline with significant project leadership experience.
- Proven track record delivering complex engineering, construction, or process-related projects.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional and multidisciplinary teams.
- Experienced in commissioning, start-up, and training for new equipment and processes.
- Highly organized, reliable, and able to execute tasks on time in a fast-paced environment.
- Work is typically performed in an office environment with standard lighting, ventilation, and noise levels.
- Work assignments are varied and may involve frequent deadlines.
- Work is primarily sedentary, with occasional walking, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting or carrying objects up to 10 lbs.
