Overview

A rapidly growing Retail organization is establishing a new first‑party retail function to support the expansion of brick‑and‑mortar stores across the United States. As the team builds the operational and technological foundation for these new retail experiences, they are seeking an experienced Project Manager to support execution, long‑term planning, and strategic initiatives.

This role sits at the intersection of retail operations, technology, and cross‑functional program delivery. The ideal candidate is a highly organized operator who thrives in fast‑paced, ambiguous environments and excels at breaking down complex initiatives into actionable workstreams.

About the Team

The Retail Operations & Technology team is responsible for launching and managing immersive retail environments that bring consumer products to life. The team partners closely with Retail Operations, Product Marketing, Enterprise Systems, Retail Design, Finance, and Product Management to deliver seamless in‑store experiences supported by robust operational and technical infrastructure.

Role Summary

The Project Manager III will lead cross‑functional initiatives that shape the operational and technological backbone of first‑party retail stores. This includes managing project lifecycles end‑to‑end, translating technical requirements into clear action plans, and driving the implementation of retail systems such as POS, ERP, CRM, AV, and in‑store demo technologies.

This role requires strong judgment, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to operate autonomously while navigating ambiguity.

Key Responsibilities

Project & Program Leadership

  • Manage and deliver cross‑functional projects from initiation through completion.
  • Break down complex initiatives into structured, manageable components.
  • Develop clear execution plans, timelines, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Present project status, risks, and progress updates to leadership.

Cross‑Functional Collaboration

  • Serve as a bridge between technical and non‑technical teams, translating complex technical details into clear, actionable language.
  • Partner with Retail Operations, Product Marketing, Enterprise Systems, Retail Design & Implementation, Retail Finance, and Product Management.
  • Resolve bottlenecks by balancing business needs with technical and operational constraints.

Retail Systems Implementation

  • Drive the development and deployment of retail technologies, including:
    • Point‑of‑Sale (POS)
    • ERP systems
    • CRM platforms
    • AV systems
    • In‑store demo technologies
  • Ensure systems are integrated, scalable, and aligned with retail operational needs.

Operational Excellence

  • Maintain clarity and momentum in environments with high velocity and ambiguity.
  • Apply sound judgment to determine the best techniques and approaches for execution.
  • Support long‑term planning and strategic initiatives for the expanding retail footprint.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • 5+ years of project or program management experience within:
    • Direct‑to‑Consumer (DTC) consumer electronics retail
    • Consumer electronics manufacturing
    • Technology companies
    • Premium hospitality environments
  • Proficiency with project management tools (e.g., JIRA, Asana, MS Project, Wrike).
  • Experience implementing and developing retail systems (POS, ERP, CRM, AV, demo technologies).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and navigate ambiguity.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA or advanced degree.
  • PMP, Agile, or similar project/portfolio management certification.
  • Experience working in a technology‑driven organization.
  • Ability to leverage AI tools to improve productivity and efficiency.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with a data‑driven approach.

Top Required Skills

  1. 5+ years of project/program management in DTC consumer electronics, technology, or premium hospitality.
  2. Proficiency with project management tools and productivity software.
  3. Deep experience implementing retail systems (POS, ERP, CRM, AV, demo technologies).

Success Criteria

  • Consistent delivery of day‑to‑day responsibilities.
  • Ability to operate independently with minimal oversight.
  • Effective cross‑functional collaboration and communication.
  • Strong execution in ambiguous, fast‑moving environments.

Location: Onsite/Hybrid (3x per week in Burlingame, Menlo Park, Los Angeles or New York City)

Role type: Contract 12 Month Position 

Expected hours: 40 per week
