Job Description
The PSY - Liaison is a trained human services provider who assists law enforcement staff with behavioral health and/or substance use disorder calls for service, linking community members with area resource programs including but not limited to education, outreach, follow-up care to community members including youth, aging, and citizens in needs of housing, financial, food, legal, and transportation in order to reduce repeat calls for service.
DUTIES:
- Provide follow-up services to individuals involved with law enforcement and/or by referral including identification and assessment of risk factors and needs.
- Assist individuals to access community services to address risk factors and needs including in the areas of housing, job support, mental health, and substance use treatment. (add juvenile, schools, elderly, community outreach).
- Provide ongoing support to identified individuals through phone contact and face-to-face meetings at assigned police department and in community settings.
- Work collaboratively with assigned police department staff and community providers, including other police community resource liaisons to resolve individual and systems barriers impacting individuals and community.
- Develops and maintains collaboration opportunities with community partners and stakeholders (residents, schools, general assistance programs, municipal staff, tabling community events, i.e. coffee w/ a cop).
QUALIFICATIONS:
High School diploma or equivalent certification plus at least three years of related experience in behavioral health and/or substance use disorders services required; any equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered. Associate or bachelor's degree preferred. MHRT/C or MHRT/C eligible.
