Property Risk Specialist - Claims Adjuster

Job purpose:The property Risk Specialist is responsible for handling insurance claims filed by policy holders. This position plans and schedules work needed to process claims, interviews claimants and witnesses, and investigates all aspects of the claim. This position also performs risk analysis inspections. Key Responsibilities:Inspects properties to analyze risk on new applications and rewritten properties.Investigates and processes insurance claims filed by policy holders.Interviews claimants and witnesses to gather pertinent information.Handles and processes farm, commercial and home insurance claims.Handles property claims involving damage to buildings and structures, or personal property.Inspects property damage to determine extent of damage.Verifies that coverage applies through an insurance policy.Evaluates damages to ascertain compensation amount and consult with various personnel to get expert evaluation.Examines all written, audio and visual documents to determine how claim should be handled.Negotiates with claimant to settle claim and issue payout amounts.Maintains accurate and updated insurance files.Maintains written procedures for various job functions. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Proficient in MS Office Product.Teamwork and collaboration.Understanding of insurance policies, practices and terminology.Good communication skills - written and verbal.Detail oriented and good organizational skills.Works with all skill types and levels of personnel.  Educational & Experience Required: Associate degree or equivalent work experience preferred.  North Dakota Farmers Union is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
