Job Description

WSi Healthcare Personnel is seeking experienced local Registered Nurses (RNs) for an anticipated one-year psychiatric nursing contract with the Colorado Department of Corrections (CDOC). Positions will be located inside secure state correctional facilities in Denver and Cañon City, Colorado, with an anticipated start on or around December 2026.

This is a LOCAL, long-term contract opportunity. Candidates should live within reasonable commuting distance of the assigned facility, be comfortable providing patient care within a secure state prison environment, and be prepared to commit to an approximately one-year assignment.

RNs will support specialized treatment programs serving individuals with Substance Use Disorders (SUDs) and co-occurring psychiatric conditions. This opportunity is particularly well suited for nurses with inpatient psychiatric, behavioral health, SUD, and/or correctional healthcare experience who are looking for a stable, long-term local assignment.

  • Denver Women’s Correctional Facility (DWCF) – Denver, CO
  • Centennial Correctional Facility (CCF) – Cañon City, CO

What You’ll Do

As a Psychiatric RN, you will provide nursing services to patients participating in specialized psychiatric and SUD treatment programs. Responsibilities may include:

  • Administering routine, emergency, and involuntary medications as ordered
  • Monitoring medication compliance and treatment response
  • Providing education related to SUDs, psychiatric conditions, medications, and treatment
  • Supporting patients with co-occurring psychiatric and substance use disorders
  • Participating in multidisciplinary treatment team meetings
  • Facilitating prescribed individual and group therapeutic/educational sessions
  • Performing urine testing as required
  • Providing general nursing assessment, monitoring, documentation, and patient care
  • Collaborating with medical, psychiatric, behavioral health, and correctional professionals
  • Maintaining professional standards of care within a secure correctional environment
