Position Overview
CLFC Healthcare & Communications is seeking a Psychiatrist to provide mental health services at a federal prison camp in Alderson, West Virginia. FPC Alderson is a minimum-security federal prison camp for female inmates in rural southeastern West Virginia, requiring healthcare providers with experience in women's health. You will evaluate, diagnose, and treat psychiatric disorders in a female inmate population, with particular expertise in trauma-informed care, gender-responsive treatment, and co-occurring substance use disorders.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct psychiatric evaluations, diagnostic assessments, and medication management
- Manage psychotropic medication regimens per BOP formulary guidelines
- Perform psychiatric emergency assessments and suicide risk evaluations
- Provide trauma-informed care with sensitivity to gender-specific mental health needs
- Participate in interdisciplinary treatment team meetings
- Manage dual-diagnosis patients with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders
- Supervise mid-level providers prescribing psychotropic medications
- Maintain clinical documentation per BOP standards
Required Qualifications
- MD or DO
- Board certified in Psychiatry (ABPN)
- Active, unrestricted West Virginia medical license (or ability to obtain)
- Active DEA registration
- Current BLS certification
- U.S. citizenship required
- Ability to pass federal background investigation
Preferred Qualifications
- Women's mental health or trauma-informed care experience
- Forensic psychiatry or correctional mental health experience
- Experience with medication-assisted treatment
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary: $240,000 - $310,000 annually
