Pay rate ranges from $52.17 to $56.82 based on experience. This job has multiple openings...Unit Notes:Department: Adolescent Psych CPEP | RNNO FIRST TIME TRAVELERS - BronxCare does not allow part time or second jobs, this is expected to be their primary job. As they are filling in scheduling gaps and they do not allow block scheduling. Per Diem jobs are to be considered on case to case basis, however the facility will NOT accommodate working around a per diem position- please ensure traveler is understanding of this.Any RTO to be requested for (potential approval) prior to contract start, after start it will not be considered.
Beds* "40 Beds, divided into sections; 30 Adult Beds; 20 Child Adolescent Beds Will work both areas"
Fast Track/Triage: * 1 Section designated to triage and fast-trak patients
Is Security in-house 24/7? Housed in the ER? * Available in house 24/7
On average, how many patients do you treat in the ER/day?* 15-45/day
Nurse: Patient Ratios* "1:6-12 depending on acuity
- Typical Staffing: 2 Triage RNs, 4 RNs designated to Adults, 1 RN designated to Pediatrics/Adolescents, and 1 Charge (8 RNs Totals) Travelers typically do not do Charge"
Required Certifications (i.e., BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, ENPC, NRP, NIHSS?)* "BLS, ACLS, PALs; Also required before starting is one of the following certifications: Handle with Care; TRUST Training; CPI- Crisis Prevention Institute; PMCS- Preventing and Managing Crisis Situations; or MOAB"
Common diagnoses/Types of patients* "Patients with severe mental illnesses and behavioral issues including schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, major depressive disorder, anxiety, depression, trauma, and more; often patients will have multiple comorbidities, but are typically medically stable. Medically unstable patients are transferred out"
Experience or 'Must have' skills* "Must have 1 year of psych experience. Prefer someone with some medical experience (MS, MS-Tele, PCU, ICU, etc), ideally recent. Do NOT need prior ED experiencePrefer someone with de-escalation experience and restraint use
Medications: * "No IVs IM injections and PO medicaiton administration Psychotropics (Haldol, Zyprexa, Ativan, etc.)"
ED Physician/Mid-Levels* "3 psych physiciaion on days, 1 psych physician and 1 psych resdient on nights 1 Medical Physician on each shift. Physician Shifts: 8-8"
Charge Nurse/House Supervisor? Does the charge nurse take an assignment?* "Directior oversees entire facility; Charge ocassionally will take a patient, depends on the census "
Nurse aids/EMT/Paramedics/Patient Sitters? Ratios? Duties?* "PCTs
- Job Duties: Phlebotomy, 12 Lead EKGs, 1:1s, transport, ADLs, pt contraband search, property inventory, assisting physicians and nurses, and more"
Is RT in the ER 24/7? Do they do ABG's, breathing Tx, & EKG's?* Yes, RT available RT Equipment (Vents, Cpap, BiPap, High Flow, etc.)
Are RNs required to do anything with these besides trouble shoot?* RT available and will administer breathing treatments and assist in escalating any resp needs; Equipped to intubate patients when need but then would transfer them out.
Do you have Monitor Techs in the ER? Are RNs required to read their own strips? What brand are the Tele monitors?* "Rare portable Cardiac monitoring,Tele available for code situation and RNs asked to be able to identify major rhythms, life threatening rhythms, and rhythm changes. Also tele for a short period if FDNY brings in a patient they had to sedate. Will transfer from here up to main hopsital.
X-Ray or CT in the ER? Transport?* Xray and CT available in main MER, PCTs transport
Does Phlebotomy draw labs or RN's draw?* PCTs do blood draws
Shifts & Scheduling (Do you allow self-scheduling? Block scheduling?) - Will be scheduled according to the needs of the units, they are expected to fill gaps in permanent scheduling"

They treat agency staff like they would permanent staff and ask that they be reliable and supportive of unit needs. Be able to recognie crisis early. Understand that it's as simple as giving the pateint a juice. Being attentive and enaged with them, early interviweetion is key.
