Job Description

The Callaway County Health Department is accepting applications for a full-time Public Health Nurse (RN or LPN) position for its Missouri Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Program. This position is responsible for performing nursing services and operational duties in accordance with WIC policies and procedures.

The starting salary range for this position is $50,000 - $65,000 annually (or $24.04 - $31.25 per hour) and it comes with a full benefits package, including free health insurance, paid vacation/sick/holiday leave, two retirement programs, free life insurance policies, and much more.

The normal business hours for this position is Monday through Friday from 8:00am - 4:30pm, with weekends and holidays off. However, there may be some events throughout the year that would require working outside of normal business hours.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

Perform nursing duties related to Missouri WIC operations, including health screenings and nutrition and breastfeeding assessments

Collect and document anthropometric and health data for WIC participants

Provide nutrition education, breastfeeding support, health care and social services referrals under WIC guidelines

Assist with certification, re-certification, and follow-up appointments of WIC clients

Maintain accurate and confidential client records in compliance with state and federal regulations

Collaborate with WIC staff and other health department personnel to ensure efficient program delivery

Complete nutrition and breastfeeding continuing education annually.

Adhere to all Missouri WIC policies, protocols, and standards of practice

Requirements

Qualifications

Current Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse license in the State of Missouri

Knowledge of or willingness to learn Missouri WIC program requirements

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to work effectively with diverse populations, including women, infants, and children

Basic computer skills and ability to accurately enter data

Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations

Preferred Qualifications

Previous experience in public health, maternal and child health, or WIC programs

Bilingual skills a plus
