Job Description
The Tennessee Department of Health (TDH) is accepting applications for a contract Public Health Nurse Consultant 2 position in the Department of Health, Division of Family Health and Wellness. This position will provide clinical case management with Newborn Screening Follow-up. Key Responsibilities:Provide case management and follow-up for newborns and children with abnormal or questionable newborn screening, hearing screening, and critical congenital heart disease results.Communicate effectively with healthcare providers, parents, and tertiary care centers by responding to inquiries, providing case information, and coordinating follow-up activities. Follow established pediatric case management protocols and seek guidance as needed to ensure quality patient care and program compliance.Collaborate with nurse educators and healthcare facilities to identify educational needs and support training initiatives related to newborn screening and pediatric case management.Assist in the development, review, and revision of program policies, procedures, and workflow improvement initiatives. Minimum Requirements:Education and Experience: Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse with a minimum of four years of professional registered nursing experience. Substitution of Experience for Education: Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse with a diploma in registered nursing from an accredited school of nursing or a bachelor s degree in nursing from an accredited college or university and three years of professional registered nursing experience;OR currently licensed as a Registered Nurse with a graduate degree in nursing from an accredited college or university and two years of professional registered nursing experience.Preferred Qualifications: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilitiesStrong organizational skills and attention to detailStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlinesAbility to work collaboratively with healthcare providers, healthcare facilities, and multidisciplinary teamsKnowledge of pediatric care coordination, newborn screening, or public health programsKnowledge of and experience working within the State of Tennessee environmentExperience with case management, quality improvement, or program coordinationProficiency in Microsoft Office applications and data management systemsLocation: Hybrid with in-person meetings as needed;some in-state travel required;Tennessee residency preferredHours: Fulltime/37.5 hours per week
