The Waterfront Rescue Mission,recognized in 2025 as one of the Best Christian Workplacesin the country, is hiring a positive, highly productive, safety-minded and team oriented associate to join our team in Public Relations!
Job Summary:
Under the supervision of the VP of PR & Development, the PR Associate is responsible for editing direct response copy, gathering, editing, and helping outside marketing agencies with social media content, interviewing current and former clients for videos, and assisting with the marketing efforts and media relations.

Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university in Marketing or related field or two to four years related experience in Marketing and Public Relations and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must have a valid Florida driver’s license or valid photo identification card and be insurable by the WRM’s insurance carrier if driving is an essential function of the position.
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Provide material and oversee editing of direct response material, coordinating with marketing and printing vendors, including, but not limited to mail, digital, and phone marketing.
· Maintain contact and build professional relationships with printing and mailing companies and other entities related to Development.
· Work with Appleyard on designated Mission social media outlets.
· Photographs and videos of various Mission events.
· Coordinate traditional media interviews with news agencies for Waterfront staff.
· Interview program clients to provide stories for direct mail and social media.
· Work with the VP of PR & Development to plan fundraising events.
· Give tours of the Mission facilities to donors, community partners, and other guests.
· Design signage and print materials that will be used to promote Waterfront.
· Some travel may be necessary for events, training, and temporary duty.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Ability to form effective relationships with donors, vendors, agencies, and team members.
· Ability to lead creative promotional efforts
· Background with Databases and show the ability to learn the existing donor database software.
· Experience with social media outlets, including Facebook, Instagram, Youtube, and LinkedIn
Computer Skills:
The computer skills described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
· Intermediate computers skills are required for this position, which include aptitude in the use of the Internet, e-mail, spreadsheets, and maintaining data bases through means of accurately and proficiently entering data.
· Must be knowledgeable in photo and video editing and design software.
· Must be knowledgeable in the use of Microsoft Office Suite & case management software; basic computer and typing skills a must.
