Are you hands-on, hardworking, and take pride in keeping your community safe and beautiful? Cottonwood Heights is now hiring an Operations Specialist II to support the essential maintenance and operations of our roads, parks, and public infrastructure.
This is your opportunity to join a dedicated Public Works team and make a real impact every day-whether it's through storm drain inspection, snow removal, street light maintenance, or other essential city services.
What You'll Do:
As an Operations Specialist II, you'll assist in a variety of maintenance and operational activities throughout the city. Responsibilities may include:
- Performing road maintenance, including patching and concrete work
- Installing, repairing, and maintaining signage, street lights, and traffic control systems
- Conducting storm drain inspections and cleanings
- Supporting landscaping, weed abatement, and graffiti removal
- Inspecting road cuts and performing utility blue staking
- Assisting with snow removal and seasonal projects
- Using Trimble GPS devices for field data collection
Desired Skills & Experience:
We're looking for reliable team players who enjoy working outdoors and value quality workmanship. Strong candidates will be required to have:
- A valid Class A or B Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
- High school diploma or GED
- At least one (1) year of experience in construction, public works, or related field
- Familiarity with manual and power tools
- Experience with Trimble GPS devices and basic Microsoft Office programs
- Basic knowledge of street, storm drain, water, and sewer systems
- Understanding of safety procedures in trench work, construction, and heavy equipment use
- Experience in concrete forming/finishing, tree trimming, snow removal, landscaping or facilities maintenance preferred.
The City reserves the right to fill this position at a lower classification level if an applicant does not meet all qualifications for the Operations Specialist II position but is determined to possess the skills, abilities, and potential to successfully perform the essential functions of the role. Compensation will be based on the classification and qualifications of the selected candidate.

The Operations Specialist II is a full-time, benefitted position within the Public Works Department. Applicants must be able to work in varying outdoor conditions and may be required to work nights, weekends, or holidays during emergency or snow removal operations.
