Job Description
Pup Program Manager position available with Paws for Purple Hearts and Bergin College ofCanine Studies located in Canyonville, Oregon.Educationa. A Bachelor of Science Degree (Cynology is preferred)b. A Vet Tech license (preferred);c. A Montessori or elementary school teaching credential (preferred);d. A Master of Science Degree in Human-Canine Life Sciences or Genetics(preferred).The Puppy Program provides the foundation for Bergin College and Paws for Purple Heartsworking dogs. This includes Service Dogs, Facility Dogs, Hearing Dogs, Senior Service Dogs,Scent Detection Dogs, dogs that read with children, and multiple other working dog roles.Basic qualifications include the following areas:a. Knowledge of and an ability to develop and operate a pup breeding, enrichment andtraining program;b. Sufficient medical knowledge and experience to assist in the health, nutrition andwell-being of program pups;c. Responsible for facility management, cleaning, and maintaining safe, sterilizedenvironment;d. Knowledge of and an ability to develop, collaborate with experts and help build andmanage a simulated enrichment environment;e. Knowledge of and an ability to train puppies using positive methods;f. Knowledge of and ability to apply current pup genetic, enrichment and earlypuppyhood education research;g. Management and scheduling of puppy tech staff and volunteer puppy petters.h. An ability to teach classes in pup enrichment, early puppyhood training and cognitiveeducation methods;i. Insightful and visionary early puppyhood breeding, education and enrichmentprogram management, reporting, record keeping, communication and interpersonalskills;j.
