We're looking for a Purchasing Specialist who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys analyzing information, and takes ownership of inventory and purchasing decisions that directly impact customer service and company performance. This position is based in Louisville, Kentucky at our corporate headquarters and is an onsite position.

Our Purchasing team plays a critical role in maintaining inventory, supporting branch operations, and ensuring customers receive the products they need when they need them.

WHAT THE JOB LOOKS LIKE DAY-TO-DAY

  • Execute inventory purchasing decisions based on demand and replenishment needs
  • Manage purchase orders from issuance through receipt
  • Monitor inventory levels and address shortages or excess inventory
  • Evaluate pricing, freight terms, and discount opportunities
  • Analyze reports to identify trends, risks, and purchasing priorities
  • Maintain inventory health by reviewing dead stock, non-stock items, and excess inventory
  • Support new product setup and ongoing product maintenance
  • Ensure pricing accuracy and data integrity within company systems
  • Communicate with vendors regarding pricing, availability, and product updates
  • Collaborate with Sales, Operations, Accounting, and other internal teams
  • Support special projects, audits, and inventory initiatives
  • Provide timely communication regarding inventory, pricing, freight, and purchasing activities

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • College coursework or degree in business, supply chain, operations, or a related field is preferred
  • Minimum of two years of experience in purchasing, inventory management, operations support, sales support, or a related role
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-volume environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and purchasing or inventory management systems
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to accurately work with pricing, freight, costs, margins, and detailed data
