QA Engineer- Sdet, Ai-Driven Test Automation

We are looking for a QA Engineer- SDET, AI-Driven Test Automation to join our team!

We’re hiring an SDET to build AI-driven test automation across our product suite, with our payment and billing flows as the highest-stakes surface. This is not a manual QA role and it’s not a traditional automation role either. We want an engineer who treats quality as a software problem and AI as the primary lever for solving it.

Responsibilities:

• Design, build, and own test automation frameworks for web UI (Playwright preferred) and APIs (REST, contract tests at service boundaries).
• Build integration and e2e coverage for payment-critical flows. Hosted and iframe-embedded payment pages, merchant onboarding, webhooks, recurring billing, refunds, and reconciliation.
• Cover multiple payment rails and regions including Cards with 3DS, ACH and eCheck in the US, PAD / ACSS debit in Canada, and surcharging rules that differ by card type.
• Own test data management, including seeding, isolation, teardown, and realistic finance scenarios.
• Test feature-flag and entitlement matrices to ensure coverage across different regions, brands, processor routing, and package tiers.
• Wire quality gates into CI/CD (TeamCity, GitHub Actions) to ensure fast, reliable, deterministic suites.
• Track and drive down flake to maintain a reliable test suite.
• Use AI tools like Claude, Claude Code, and GitHub Copilot to generate test cases, scaffold suites, refactor brittle tests, and analyze failures.
• Build AI-assisted workflows for test generation from acceptance criteria.
• Evaluate and adopt AI-native testing approaches.
• Shift quality left by reviewing acceptance criteria for testability before development starts.
• Define test strategy with the pod and own regression, E2E, and UAT cycles that gate payment releases.
• Build observability into the test layer to ensure failures are self-explanatory.
• Contribute performance and load baselines for payment endpoints and monitor for regressions.

Requirements:

• 4 years as an SDET, automation engineer, or quality-focused software engineer.
• Strong TypeScript/JavaScript skills, with C# as a strong plus.
• Deep, hands-on Playwright experience.
• Solid API testing experience.
• Comfort testing third-party embedded UI.
• Working SQL skills to verify data state in SQL Server.
• CI/CD fluency, with experience building or owning pipelines.

Required Skills:

• Daily use of AI coding assistants for test work.
• Curiosity about agentic and AI-native testing.
• Judgment about where AI output needs human review.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience testing payment, billing, fintech, or other correctness-critical systems.
• Understanding of idempotency, race conditions, and async workflows.
• Risk-based thinking to determine what to automate, explore manually, and skip.
• Strong communication skills for clear bug reports, test plans, and failure analyses.
• Experience with performance and load testing tools (k6, Gatling, JMeter).
• Familiarity with visual regression tooling and accessibility testing (axe, WCAG).
• Experience with Docker, AWS, and testing against containerized environments.
• Experience with Jira-driven workflows and acceptance-criteria-based delivery.
• Prior work in a pod or squad model embedded with developers.
