Job Description
The RF Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for leading the quality assurance program for high-power RF products. The environment is predominantly a 'job shop' (low volume high mix environment') covering 3 distinct product lines. These are
Amplifier modules (bricks)
Amplifier systems (drawers, racks and bi directional amplifiers)
Passives (eh cavity filters)
This role involves planning, directing, and monitoring comprehensive quality control processes to ensure the highest standards of performance, reliability, and regulatory compliance in RF power amplifier manufacturing and testing operations.
One direct report (Quality control inspector) and essential to be able to build a rapport with the materials, production and engineering teams with whom to create effect solutions. The company is growing and evolving. A key part of the role is to build an effective team beyond the current QC inspector and to create a digital platform to US military standards.
An essential requirements are to execute quality improvement solutions for goods inward, in-line, goods outward and RMAs.
This position reports to the CEO.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Management System Leadership
· Define, establish, and manage product quality goals and comprehensive quality assurance plans
· Develop, implement, and continuously improve methods and procedures for inspecting, testing, and evaluating RF power amplifier components and assemblies
· Ensure the company maintains full preparedness for internal, external, and customer audits and inspections
· Lead quality management systems compliance including ISO 9001 and AS9100 (future) standards
· Document existing and new QA processes and maintain complete quality documentation
· Experience of developing QA and QC practices with centralized systems which may include ERP
Technical Quality Control
· Oversee Incoming Quality Control (IQC), In-Process Quality Control (IPQC), and Outgoing Quality Control (OQC) operations
· Derive data drive quality assurance methodologies for a 'job shop' environment (statistical analyses, quality tests, audits, and inspections) per product line
· Monitor and validate critical RF performance parameters including:
· Gain and return loss measurements
· Output power verification
· Linearity testing (P1dB, AM/PM conversion)
· Harmonic and noise performance analysis
· Power efficiency measurements
· Thermal performance validation
· Manage comprehensive testing suites including burn-in aging and environmental stress testing
· Lead the response and process flow to resolve RMAs and root cause of failure to resolve reasons for failures and returns
Supplier and Customer Quality Management
· Conduct quality audits for suppliers and ensure supply chain quality standards
· Function as primary contact for customers regarding quality issues and technical specifications
· Work closely with customer inspectors and engineers on quality matters
· Interface with suppliers to ensure quality of incoming components and materials
· Manage non-conformance tracking and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA)
Process Improvement and Engineering Support
· Recommend measures to improve production methods, reduce costs, and enhance product development
· Work closely with manufacturing and engineering departments for in-process and final quality control
· Draft Quality Program Plans for engineering development projects
· Support engineering validation processes including power evaluation and EMC verification
· Conduct root cause analysis and implement preventive measures for quality issues
Team Leadership and Development
· Prioritize department work duties and manage QC team workload
· Direct staff to Manage, develop, and maintain training records
· Lead training programs and annual re-certification processes
· Provide mentorship and professional development opportunities for QC team members
· Build cross-functional collaboration with engineering, manufacturing, and operations teams
Qualifications and Requirements
Education
· Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE), Electronics Engineering, or related technical field
· Advanced degree (MSEE or MBA) is preferred
Experience
· Minimum of 5+ years of quality assurance experience in RF/electronics manufacturing
· At least 3 years in a quality management or supervisory role
· Direct experience with RF power amplifiers, high-frequency electronics, or microwave components is strongly preferred
· Experience in semiconductor or RF device testing (LDMOS, GaN, GaAs technologies)
Technical Knowledge
· Thorough knowledge of QA standards, methodologies, and statistical analysis techniques
· Solid working knowledge of ISO-9001 and AS9100 requirements
· Experience with Six Sigma and/or Lean methodologies is highly desirable
· Strong understanding of RF test equipment and measurement techniques:
· Network analyzers
· Spectrum analyzers
· Power meters and sensors
· Signal generators
· Oscilloscopes
· Ability to interpret technical specifications, blueprints, and manufacturing documentation
Skills and Competencies
· Strong planning and organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail
· Excellent numerical and data analysis capabilities
· Effective communication skills for cross-functional collaboration
· Problem-solving and root cause analysis abilities
· Proficient computer skills including:
· Word processing and report generation
· Database management systems
· Spreadsheet applications and statistical software
· ERP systems experience is a plus
· Ability to maintain accurate and timely quality records and documentation
Preferred Qualifications
· Six Sigma Green/Black Belt certification
· Lean Manufacturing certification
· Experience with automated test systems and test automation
· Knowledge of military or aerospace quality standards
· Background in thermal management and reliability testing for high-power RF devices
Working Environment and Conditions
· Fast-paced manufacturing and engineering environment

· Occasional travel to supplier sites and customer locations
· May require exposure to test laboratory and production floor environments
