Qa/Qc Inspector

Structure Resources is seeking a Quality Assurance Specialist for a project-based, direct-hire opportunity with our client, a nationally recognized, 100% employee-owned civil construction contractor. This company performs complex civil projects for industrial, petrochemical, energy, public, federal, and rail clients throughout the United States and is known for its commitment to safety, quality, customer service, and employee development.

We’re looking for an experienced construction professional with extensive concrete and civil sitework knowledge. This individual will provide on-site quality assurance, field leadership, technical guidance, and constructability support—ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to plans, specifications, tolerances, and client requirements.

This is a field-based position that may support one or multiple projects based on workload.

What They’re Looking For

• Approximately 15 years of experience as a Quality Assurance Specialist, Site Manager, Superintendent, Foreman, Concrete Superintendent, or similar field leadership or quality professional

• Extensive concrete construction knowledge, including forming, reinforcing steel, anchor bolts, critical embeds, walls, footings, mass foundations, elevated decks with shoring, placement, finishing, curing, and inspection

• Strong understanding of civil sitework, grading, underground utilities, pipe installation, structures, sequencing, and construction-site safety

• Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, drawings, addenda, RFIs, submittals, schedules, and step-by-step work plans

• High proficiency with transits, builder’s levels, grade lasers, and field-layout fundamentals

• GPS and total-station experience is beneficial but not required

• Experience developing and enforcing site-specific quality plans and inspection and testing plans

• Ability to complete accurate electronic documentation, including pre-pour and post-pour forms, daily quality-control reports, inspection reports, deficiency logs, and project records

• Comfortable training, guiding, and correcting craft workers on proper installation methods

• Proficiency with iPads, laptops, electronic forms, Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook

• HCSS Heavy Job experience is beneficial but not required

• Strong communication, organization, time-management, leadership, and problem-solving skills

• High school diploma, GED, or trade school certificate preferred

• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record

• Class B CDL preferred when required by project duties

• Ability to obtain OSHA 30 and First Aid/CPR certifications before beginning work

• Ability to pass required drug, background, driving, physical, and pre-employment screenings

• Willingness to work approximately 50–60 hours per week, including evenings and weekends as project needs require

• Comfortable traveling for extended periods to out-of-town and out-of-state project locations

Key Responsibilities

• Provide on-site quality assurance, field leadership, technical guidance, and constructability input

• Develop, implement, and enforce site-specific quality plans and inspection and testing plans

• Conduct preparatory, daily, follow-up, pre-pour, and post-pour inspections

• Perform regular project walk-throughs to identify risks, deficiencies, and gaps in quality, safety, schedule, or technical execution

• Verify work is installed according to plans, specifications, tolerances, client requirements, and established construction practices

• Identify noncompliant materials or workmanship, track deficiencies, and implement timely corrective actions

• Manage required hold points and document completed work

• Review plans, specifications, drawings, RFIs, submittals, schedules, and other project documentation

• Provide concrete quality oversight for reinforcing steel, anchor bolts, critical embeds, walls, footings, mass foundations, elevated decks, placement, finishing, curing, protection, and post-pour review

• Support quality oversight for grading, underground utilities, pipe installation, structures, layout, and related civil construction activities

• Train and guide craft workers on proper installation procedures and effective construction means and methods

• Coordinate field activities and future work plans to support safety, quality, production, and scheduling goals

• Prepare daily quality-control reports, maintain submittal registers, and manage project documentation from preconstruction through closeout

• Support field layout and grade-control activities using transits, builder’s levels, grade lasers, and related survey equipment

• Participate in project meetings with superintendents, project managers, clients, and field teams

• Communicate project progress, constraints, quality issues, and corrective-action needs to project leadership

• Track required daily reports, production, labor hours, equipment hours, inspections, safety documentation, and quality records

• Represent the company professionally and maintain positive working relationships with clients, craft workers, team members, and project stakeholders

Location

This is a traveling, project-based position supporting civil, industrial, petrochemical, and concrete projects throughout the United States. The Quality Assurance Specialist may be assigned to one or multiple projects and must be comfortable with extended assignments away from home.

Work is performed primarily on active construction sites in varying weather and terrain conditions. The position requires regular walking, standing, bending, kneeling, climbing, field inspections, and occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds.
