Job Description
Job Overview: Join a well-established industrial coatings leader dedicated to safety and integrity. In this role, you will ensure coating projects meet rigorous quality standards by verifying surface preparation and application processes in accordance with industry specifications and marine requirements. Technical Skills & Responsibilities:
- Perform inspections of surface preparation and coating applications to ensure compliance with AMPP/SSPC standards.
- Monitor and document environmental conditions before and during all coating operations.
- Measure and record critical data including surface profile, cleanliness, and coating thickness.
- Identify and document defects such as holidays, pinholes, runs, sags, or contamination.
- Interpret complex coating specifications, blueprints, and technical drawings.
- Maintain accurate calibration records for all inspection equipment and instruments.
- Track coating batch numbers and verify inspection checkpoints throughout the project lifecycle.
- Utilize Microsoft Word and Excel for daily inspection reports and final quality turnover documentation.
Functional Requirements:
- Hold an active AMPP (formerly NACE) Coatings Inspector (CCI) Level 2 certification or higher.
- Possess 3 5 years of direct experience inspecting industrial or marine coatings.
- Demonstrate experience working with NAVSEA or USACE specifications.
- Maintain familiarity with QP-1 / QS-1 environment requirements and audit support.
- Possess a valid driver's license and the ability to obtain military base access.
- Ability to travel occasionally to multiple job sites as required by project needs.
Behavioral & Physical Skills:
- Support and reinforce quality requirements and standards with painters and blasters on-site.
- Maintain a high level of integrity and attention to detail when documenting compliance.
- Ability to work in industrial and marine environments, including climbing ladders and entering confined spaces.
- Commit to wearing all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for extended periods.
