QA/QC Manager

This is a full-time on-site, salaried role for a Quality Assurance / Quality Control (QA/QC) Manager located in Orange, TX. The QA/QC Manager will report directly to the General Manager and will lead a small team of inspectors and will be responsible for overseeing and ensuring the quality of all shipyard projects. Daily responsibilities include conducting visual weld inspections, verifying fabricated modules for proper fit-up per project drawings and specifications, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. The role will also conduct air and hydro testing, assist with third-party NDI, and ensure welding equipment and tools meet certification standards. The QA/QC Manager will implement company QA/QC procedures, manage audits and Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), and work directly with regulatory agents and customer representatives to ensure fabrication, testing, and commissioning are completed in compliance with USCG, ABS, and customer specifications. Additional duties include creating and maintaining inspection documentation, training staff on quality assurance processes, and collaborating across departments to achieve quality objectives.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of inspectors to ensure quality standards are met.
• Conduct weld inspections, fit-up verification, air/hydro testing, and support third-party NDI.
• Verify welding equipment and tools are in compliance with certification requirements.
• Implement and maintain company QA/QC procedures.
• Manage audits, NCRs, and corrective actions.
• Maintain inspection and testing documentation, including hold-point inspections.
• Interface with USCG, ABS, and customer representatives on compliance matters.
• Train, mentor, and develop QA/QC staff on quality processes and regulatory requirements.
• Participate in project kickoff meetings to provide quality input.
• Collaborate with operations and other departments to resolve quality issues.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Experience with quality control, quality assurance, quality management systems and procedures for marine vessels.
• Strong knowledge of USCG and ABS requirements for marine vessel construction and repair.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for training and collaboration.
• Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams) and Adobe Acrobat.
• Ability to work on-site in Orange, TX, in outdoor conditions, climbing ladders and stairs, and working in confined spaces.
• 10–15 years of experience in the marine or shipbuilding industry is highly desirable.
• Relevant certifications in the marine QA/QC field such as Certified Weld Inspector (CWI) are a plus but not required.
