QA Technician II (Quality Assurance Lab Technician)Location: Milk Plant, San Leandro, CA 94577Pay Rate: $29.00/hourSchedule: 2nd Shift, 4x10 ScheduleWork Days: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, SaturdayHours: 4:00 PM - 2:00 AMDuration: Leave of Absence Coverage AssignmentPosition Overview We are seeking a QA Technician II (Quality Assurance Lab Technician) to join our team at a milk production facility in San Leandro, CA. This role is responsible for ensuring the quality, safety, and compliance of dairy products through laboratory testing, inspections, documentation, and collaboration with production teams. The ideal candidate will have prior quality assurance experience in a food manufacturing environment or laboratory experience in microbiology or chemistry. This position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced production setting.Note: This assignment is providing coverage for a leave of absence. Extension may be possible if additional coverage is needed. This position is not expected to convert to a permanent full-time role.Key Responsibilities

• Conduct quality checks on incoming raw materials and finished milk products.
• Perform routine inspections of production processes to ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
• Monitor and document equipment calibration and maintenance activities.
• Collaborate with production teams to identify and resolve quality-related issues.
• Evaluate trends from test results and communicate findings to employees and management.
• Implement and maintain Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), food safety requirements, and regulatory compliance standards.
• Participate in internal audits and support external audit activities as needed.
• Record, analyze, and maintain quality data and daily reports.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and maintain a 6-S rating of "A."
• Investigate customer complaints and coordinate follow-up actions with production teams.
• Perform quality control testing to ensure products meet Safeway quality standards and specifications.
• Complete additional projects and assignments as needed.

QualificationsRequired

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 1 year of Quality Assurance experience.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment with limited supervision.
• Proficiency with Windows-based computer applications.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.

Preferred

• Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Biology, Chemistry, Microbiology, or a related field.
• Experience in food manufacturing, dairy production, or quality assurance.
• Microbiology or chemical laboratory experience.
• Knowledge of HACCP, food safety programs, and regulatory compliance.
• Experience with laboratory testing equipment and maintenance.
• Familiarity with GMPs, SOPs, and quality control procedures.

Work Environment & Schedule

• 2nd Shift: Wednesday through Saturday, 4:00 PM to 2:00 AM.
• Off Days: Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday.
• Must be available for occasional overtime as business needs require.
• Fast-paced manufacturing and laboratory environment.
