Quality Assurance (Qa) Traceability Specialist

Main Purpose:

The Quality Assurance Traceability Specialist collects, records, verifies, files and archives all applicable traceability documentation for Fabrication projects while ensuring customer contract requirements are met.

Essential Functions:

• Review all job specifications to obtain the necessary information to determine the project requirement for the traceability of material, Non-Destructive Examination (NDE), hydro testing, stress relieving etc. for all applicable Fabrication projects
• Read and interpret structural drawings, isometric drawings, welding symbols and fabrication specifications
• Review all customer furnished drawings and internal drawings, sketches, cut list and roll letters to determine what items and welds need to be entered into the database for traceability and verification
• Review, input and file for reference all mill certificate information into the computer database to insure that the material purchased meets the applicable job specifications
• Review, input and file for reference all applicable material trace information, NDE, hydro testing and stress relieving documentation
• Perform computer programming to maintain all computer databases utilized for the verification and traceability performed on all applicable projects
• Display knowledge of dimensional inspection, fit-up verification, weld inspection and documentation control
• Troubleshoot all discrepancies that occur in the material verification and traceability process and on documentation including NDE reports, hydro testing and stress relieving
• Interact with the customer's inspectors to resolve discrepancies in traceability documentation
• Assemble all final project data books for the customers and for the QC archive
• Perform other duties assigned by supervisor

Requirements

Job Requirements:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• 3+ years experience in quality assurance traceability
• Ability to read and interpret structural drawings, isometric drawings, welding symbols and fabrication specifications
• Strong understanding of material identification, traceability requirements and material documentation
• Knowledge of dimensional inspection, fit-up verification, weld inspection and documentation control
• Ability to identify, document and communicate quality concerns effectively
• Must be familiar with quality standards, customer specifications and fabrication industry best practices
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.)
• Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen and physical
• Must be able to pass a background check

Desirable Experience, Education and Training:

• Technical certification, Associate degree, or Bachelor's degree in Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering, Welding Technology or related discipline
• ISO 9001 Auditor Certification

Environmental Conditions:

Work activities are performed within an office environment. Individuals may be exposed to various conditions including changes of temperature, hot, cold, humid, wet and dry conditions, dust, mud etc. They may also be exposed to paint thinner and paint fumes.
