Quality Assurance Specialist – Urbana, OHBrief Job Summary:The Quality Assurance Specialist is responsible for inspecting and verifying that materials and products meet all applicable requirements. This role performs a variety of simple to complex quality tasks with minimal supervision, including inspections, auditing, dimensional studies, testing, root-cause analysis, corrective actions, and supporting APQP/PPAP processes. This position is essential in preventing defects, maintaining quality systems, and directly impacting customer satisfaction.Why Work at Rittal:

- Perform in-process inspections, final inspections, and product certifications
- Inspect product throughout manufacturing processes to ensure compliance with design and quality specifications
- Perform receiving inspection or act as designated supplier quality representative
- Conduct measurement system analysis, dimensional studies, product testing, and capability studies
- Record, monitor, and report on scrap and rework (FTY/FPY)
- Support creation and maintenance of control plans and product specification sheets
- Ensure products meet quality standards using measurement and testing equipment
- Perform process and product audits per sampling plans and audit schedules
- Document and report audit findings
- Conduct audits of QMS processes, manufacturing activities, certification audits, surveillance audits, re-certification audits, and supplier audits
- Develop, update, and maintain QMS documentation including policies, procedures, and work instructions
- Support CAPA initiatives and monitor effectiveness
- Support APQP & PPAP activities
- Gather, analyze, and report data to evaluate the health and performance of the QMS and manufacturing processes
- Communicate findings, issues, and concerns across departments
- Monitor trends and identify opportunities for continuous improvement
- Support and train quality inspectors as needed
- Assist or instruct others in daily quality activities
- Communicate with all departments on issues and support timely resolution
- Maintain knowledge and skills to perform all assigned work efficiently
- Follow all health, safety, and housekeeping practices (6S)
- Wear required PPE (safety glasses, safety-toe footwear, hearing protection, etc.)
- Maintain adherence to all instructions, specifications, and procedures
- Participate in special projects and perform other related duties as assigned
- High school diploma or GED required
- 3–5 years of quality or manufacturing-related experience
- Experience handling sensitive and confidential material
- ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Certified Quality Auditor (CQA)
- Six Sigma Green Belt or higher
- Lead Auditor Certification (ISO 9001, AS9100, or equivalent)
- Understanding of quality control standards and problem‑solving tools
- Ability to read engineering drawings/blueprints; knowledge of GD&T
- Familiarity with root-cause analysis methods (8D, Fishbone, 5 Why, etc.)
- Proficient with measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, indicators, etc.)
- Familiarity with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle)
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills; experience with data tools such as Minitab, Tableau, or Power BI
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 standards and QMS requirements
- Strong communication skills
- Detail-oriented and able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to follow written, oral, and diagram instructions
- Strong problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work independently and professionally interact with all organizational levels
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, twist, and reach frequently throughout the shift
- Lift 25–50 pounds to waist level and up to 25 pounds above shoulders
- Ability to stand for extended periods and work at a computer occasionally
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Adapt easily to assignment changes
- Ability to multi-task and learn new software applications
- Must communicate effectively with coworkers, supervisors, and management
- Wear safety glasses with side shields, safety-toed footwear, hearing protection, and additional PPE as required
- Follow all plant and department-specific safety rules
- Complete directives given verbally or in writing
- Make logical decisions and assist in problem-solving as required
- Warehouse and manufacturing environments
- Exposure to hot/cold temperatures and dust
- Direct Contacts: Quality Assurance Manager, production personnel, quality inspectors
- Indirect Contacts: Departments throughout the Urbana plant
