Job Description

Basalite Building Products, LLC is one of the largest manufacturers of concrete masonry products in the Western United States. Product lines include structural block, interlocking paving stones, engineered wall systems, retaining walls, ornamental and garden products, and a full range of sack goods. POSITION SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Quality Assurance Supervisor this position supports the QA Lab in all areas of production. This position is responsible for completing necessary lab analysis and is responsible for supporting and demonstrating the Core Values of Integrity, Safety, Respect, Customer Focus, Quality, Innovation and Financial Success. Performs other related duties as assigned.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: General

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • To regularly test incoming raw materials to ensure they meet or exceed the stated quality requirements and are suitable for use in manufacturing. Including sands, aggregates, pigments, and cement.
  • To regularly test finished concrete products in accordance with customer specifications.
  • Report any changes in raw materials or finished product to the Q.A. Supervisor.
  • Routinely inspect production departments and finished products.
  • Train new production employees in quality related Standard Operating Procedures and conduct required annual quality training.
  • Assists with regular sack plant specialty raw material inventories and requests materials.
  • Accurately document lab test results and enter information into a database.
  • Test products returned as part of any customer complaint to confirm compliance/non-compliance and identify any sub-standard procedures of processes involved.
  • Collect samples for internal use and independent testing laboratories.
  • Maintain inventories of lab supplies and materials.
  • Maintain clean and organized workstations.
  • Attends safety meetings and abides by all safety rules set forth by company and governmental regulatory agencies and ensures that hazardous conditions are reported and corrected.
  • Predictable, and regular attendance required.

QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • A high school education or equivalent with an aptitude in basic math and reading comprehension.
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred
  • Knowledge of concrete products and aggregates and concrete product testing.
  • Ability to use and operate various types of concrete testing equipment and machines, forklifts, mixers and personal computer. Will train.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills. Fluent Spanish is a plus.
  • Training in laboratory testing technique or one-year experience with laboratory procedures is a plus.
  • Predictable, and Regular attendance is required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Standing, walking, sitting, talking/listening, simple grasping with both hands, and reaching with hands and arms below shoulder level.
  • Occasional lifting to 60 pounds. Heavier weights lifted with assistance.

  • Work near moving mechanical parts, toxic or caustic chemicals, and vibration.
  • Loud noise

$21.00 - $25.00 per hour based on qualifications and experience

Open Availability Required with a rotating Saturday schedule
