Fully in office position: Monday- Friday (8:30am- 5:30 pm)

This role is with USI Electronics, a division of Avnet, Inc., specializing in distributing high-reliability electronic components, particularly to the military and aerospace industries. They operate out of out of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.

Position Summary

The Quality Assurance Technician is responsible for establishing, implementing, and maintaining the organization's Quality Management System (QMS). This role ensures product and process compliance through audits, inspections, documentation, and continuous improvement activities. The technician serves as the Designated Management Representative and is empowered to support, enforce, and improve the overall effectiveness of the quality system across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Management System (QMS) Administration

  • Establish and maintain the company's Quality Management System in accordance with internal and customer requirements.
  • Audit the implementation and effectiveness of the QMS and ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Initiate, track, and verify corrective and preventive actions (CARs, SCARs).
  • Develop, update, and coordinate document control activities according to quality standards.

Inspection, Testing & Equipment Management

  • Perform inspections and testing of products based on documented quality plans.
  • Determine appropriate statistical techniques for measurement and analysis.
  • Maintain, calibrate, and monitor measuring and test equipment.
  • Maintain accurate inspection records and quality documentation.

Nonconforming Material Control

  • Serve as the authorized individual to disposition nonconforming products.
  • Hold delegated authority for Quality Assurance RMA approvals.
  • Serve as the delegated authority for disposition of non‑product defect issues related to RMAs.

Supplier Quality & External Communication

  • Conduct supplier quality surveys and audits.
  • Liaise with external parties (e.g., customers, certifying bodies) on matters relating to the Quality Management System.
  • Complete customer surveys, questionnaires, and compliance forms as needed.

Designated Management Representative Responsibilities

Irrespective of other responsibilities, the Quality Representative:

  • Ensures QMS processes are established, implemented, and maintained.
  • Reports to the USI Business Mgt. on QMS performance and improvement needs.
  • Promotes customer requirements awareness throughout the organization.
  • Has unrestricted access to top management to resolve quality management issues.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Prepare and perform data entry for quality-related reports, logs, and spreadsheets.
  • Monitor ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) compliance throughout the facility.
  • Assist with Quality Document Management requirements, including GE Aviation DSQR activities.
  • Coordinate records storage with the Avnet off‑site facility.

Qualifications

Work Experience:

  • Typically 5+ years with bachelor's or equivalent.

Education and Certification(s):

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience from which comparable knowledge and job skills can be obtained.

Required:

  • Experience in Quality Assurance, Quality Control, or related technical field. College degree
  • Knowledge of QMS principles (ISO 9001 or equivalent preferred).
  • Strong documentation, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to interpret technical data, specifications, and standards.

Preferred:

  • Familiarity with aviation, electronics, or manufacturing industry standards.
  • Electrical Engineer
  • Experience with ESD compliance and document control systems.
  • Training in Root Cause Analysis methodologies (5 Whys, Fishbone, etc.).
