Job Title: Quality Engineer

Location: Weaverville, NC

Reports to: Quality Manager

Employment Type: Full Time

Job Function: Engineering | Quality Assurance | Process Improvement

Job Summary: Plans and conducts activities concerned with the quality control and quality assurance of industrial processes, materials, and products by performing the following duties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain quality standards, procedures, and documentation.
  • Perform root cause analysis and lead corrective and preventive actions.
  • Plan, conduct, and support inspections, audits, and testing activities.
  • Use statistical process control (SPC) and other analytical tools to monitor process performance.
  • Conduct PFMEA, control plans, and other core quality planning activities.
  • Review engineering drawings, specifications, and change orders for quality impact.
  • Maintain detailed, accurate documentation for inspections, audits, and quality reports.
  • Performs quality engineering reviews of design documentation for compliance with stated requirements, including vendor quality manuals and company quality records.
  • Reviews all purchased products or components and provides input to the decision to accept the product and future purchases from the vendor.
  • Documents data obtained during all quality activities consistent with company policies and procedures.
  • Communicates significant issues or developments identified during quality activities and provides recommended process improvements to management.
  • Prepares and presents technical and program information to team members and management.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of government regulations, industry quality codes and standards.
  • Support new product introduction with quality requirements and validation methods.
  • Investigate customer complaints and support customer-facing quality activities.
  • Collaborate with production, engineering, suppliers, and management on quality-related issues.
  • Prepares and presents technical and program information to team members and management.
  • Train employees on quality standards, inspection methods, and best practices.
  • Programs, operates, and interprets results from Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) to verify product conformance and support root-cause investigations.
  • Occasional travel required.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field is highly desired.
  • Knowledge of Auto-Cad and Solid-Works design software; Word Processing software; Spreadsheet software.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • ASQ-CQE highly desired.

Physical Demands:

  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and depth perception.
  • Routinely reach with hands and arms to handle or feel.
  • Frequently required to stand and walk.
  • Occasionally required to sit, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
