Quality Technician

Job Title: Quality Technician (Levels 1–5)

Position Summary

The Quality Technician is responsible for performing product inspections, audits, and quality control activities to ensure that raw materials, in-process components, and finished products meet company standards. This role supports quality assurance efforts through testing, data analysis, calibration, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform audits, inspections, and testing of products and processes to ensure quality and reliability standards are met

• Conduct first article inspections, out-of-box audits (OBA), and sampling/testing of incoming materials

• Interpret engineering drawings, schematics, specifications, and procedures to complete inspections and testing

• Identify and analyze quality issues, perform root cause analysis, and support corrective and preventive actions

• Monitor manufacturing processes for compliance, including ESD handling, documentation, and training adherence

• Collect, record, and analyze quality data using statistical tools and techniques

• Prepare reports, charts, and graphs to communicate findings and deviations from standards

• Recommend improvements to enhance product quality and manufacturing processes

• Perform calibration of inspection tools (e.g., micrometers, calipers, height gauges) and maintain calibration records and tracking systems

• Support supplier quality and resolve issues related to purchased parts and materials

• Download and analyze quality system data for reporting purposes

• Provide quality support to manufacturing operations and assist with receiving inspections as needed

Qualifications

Education & Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training preferred

• Experience requirements vary by level:

  • Level 1: 2+ years of related experience

  • Level 2: 4+ years

  • Level 3: 6+ years

  • Level 4: 8+ years

  • Level 5: 10+ years

Skills & Knowledge

• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical documents, and specifications

• Experience with quality tools such as 8D, SPC, FMEA, and control plans

• Familiarity with ISO and/or FDA auditing standards (preferred)

• Proficiency using measurement and inspection equipment

• Strong data analysis and reporting skills

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.)

• Strong communication and problem-solving abilities

Certifications (Preferred)

• ASQ certifications (CQT, CQA, CQPA, or CSSGB)

Physical Requirements

• Ability to sit, stand, and move throughout the workday

• Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds

• Good manual dexterity and ability to handle small components

• Close and color vision required

Work Environment

• Manufacturing environment with exposure to moving mechanical parts

• Moderate to high noise levels

• Tasks may involve repetitive motion
