R&D Test Intern

This R&D Test intern will work in Semiconductor Laser Test team and learn basic concepts about high power laser and laser test. This Intern will support the setup of high-power laser test stations, perform test, collect test data, and develop software program to automate test process and data processing when applicable.

Internship will be on-site from May 2026 - August 2026.

Intern will work 40hours a week for the May-August duration

Duties and Responsibilities

• Laser Basics: Learn High Power Semiconductor Laser Basics and How to perform test on laser diodes.

• Setup & Test: Support test engineer to set up test stations and perform test.

• Data Acquisition & Analysis: Collect, process, and analyze raw test data. Develop Python, MATLAB, or LabVIEW program to automate data collection, improve test efficiency, and analyze large datasets.

• Documentation: Document test results and report results to the engineering team.

Education and Qualifications

• College student in Science or Engineering major or have strong interests in hands-on testing, programming and laser physics.

• Familiar with programming tool, such as Python, C# or LabVIEW or others, experience with hardware-in-the-loop or database programming

• Experience with optical components (detectors, cameras, lenses, etc.) and electrical equipment (oscilloscopes, power meters, DC power supplies, etc.) is preferred.

• Teamwork, high quality standards and excellent oral and written communication skills essential

• Must be able to wear a clean room gown and work in a clean room environment.

• This is an onsite position with 30 hours minimum weekly

Pay Range: $21-26 an hour
