Radiation Therapist- VA Healthcare System
Location: Pittsburgh, PAEmployment Type: Independent ContractorCompensation: $55 - $70/hrSchedule: Full-time, Monday- Friday, standard clinic hours
Position Overview
CLFC Healthcare & Communications is seeking a Certified Radiation Therapist for the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System (VAPHS). This position supports a 5-year IDIQ contract providing radiation therapy services in the oncology department, treating veteran patients undergoing radiation treatment for various cancer diagnoses at the University Drive campus.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer prescribed courses of radiation therapy to patients according to treatment plans developed by radiation oncologists and medical physicists
- Position patients accurately using immobilization devices, laser alignment systems, and imaging verification
- Operate linear accelerators and other radiation therapy equipment, including IMRT, IGRT, SRS/SBRT delivery systems
- Monitor patients during treatment, documenting treatment parameters and any adverse reactions
- Perform daily quality assurance checks on radiation therapy equipment
- Maintain accurate treatment records in the electronic medical record system
- Collaborate with radiation oncologists, medical physicists, dosimetrists, and nursing staff
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of a JRCERT-accredited radiation therapy program
- Current ARRT (T) certification (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, Radiation Therapy)
- Active state licensure in Pennsylvania (or eligibility to obtain)
- Minimum 2 years of clinical radiation therapy experience
- Current BLS certification
- U.S. citizenship or permanent resident authorization to work in a VA facility
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Varian or Elekta linear accelerator systems
- Experience in a VA or federal healthcare setting
- IMRT, IGRT, and/or SRS/SBRT treatment delivery experience
- CMD (Certified Medical Dosimetrist) credential
Compensation and Benefits
- Competitive hourly rate: $55 - $70/hr commensurate with experience
- 5-year IDIQ contract with long-term stability
