Radiologic Technologist

Location: Pain Center

Hours: Full Time- Days (8am to 4:30pm)

Job Summary

The Rad Tech performs diagnostic radiographic examinations to assist physicians in diagnosing and treating patients. This position is responsible for producing high-quality diagnostic images while ensuring patient safety, radiation protection, and compliance with all applicable federal, state, and facility regulations. The technologist must maintain an active Kansas Radiologic Technologist license.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostic radiographic procedures as ordered by a licensed provider.
  • Verify patient identity and physician orders before imaging procedures.
  • Explain procedures and position patients correctly to obtain quality diagnostic images.
  • Operate radiographic equipment safely and effectively.
  • Follow ALARA principles to minimize radiation exposure.
  • Utilize appropriate radiation shielding and safety practices.
  • Evaluate image quality and repeat studies when medically necessary.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR) and Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS).
  • Assist radiologists and physicians with imaging procedures as needed.
  • Monitor patient condition during examinations and respond appropriately to emergencies.
  • Maintain imaging equipment and report equipment malfunctions.
  • Comply with infection prevention, HIPAA, OSHA, and facility policies.
  • Participate in quality improvement and continuing education activities.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Current certification with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
  • Current Kansas Licensed Radiologic Technologist (L.R.T.) issued by the Kansas State Board of Healing Arts.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (preferred or required by employer).
  • Possess a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Successfully complete a Board-approved radiography educational program.
  • Obtain and maintain a current Kansas Radiologic Technologist license before independently performing radiologic procedures, unless specifically exempt by Kansas law.
  • Renew the Kansas license annually and complete required continuing education for renewal.

  • Kansas Radiologic Technologist Practice Act.
  • Kansas State Board of Healing Arts regulations.
  • HIPAA Privacy and Security Rules.
  • OSHA standards.
  • Facility policies and accreditation standards.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of radiographic anatomy and positioning.
  • Knowledge of radiation physics and radiation safety.
  • Ability to operate digital radiography equipment and PACS.
  • Strong communication and patient care skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to safely lift, move, and position patients.

Physical Requirements

  • Frequent standing and walking.
  • Ability to lift or assist with lifting patients and equipment (up to 50 pounds with assistance).
  • Frequent bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling.
  • Visual acuity sufficient to evaluate diagnostic images
