Job Summary
This is a travel/contract MRI Technologist position in the Radiology / Cardiology specialty at a healthcare facility in Wilmington, NC. The role operates on a blocked scheduling type, with night shifts on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday (6:30 PM 7:00 AM). Contract staff will be assigned and expected to work a Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team; contract staff may be required to report to work during a catastrophic event, mass casualty, or disaster. Consolidation to the Centralized Office mid-contract may occur, and contract staff may be pre-assigned to units as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform MRI examinations across a broad range of anatomical areas and clinical settings including Adult Acute Care, Adult ICU, Adult Outpatient, and ER/Trauma
- Operate MRI equipment including Siemens scanners and PACS systems
- Apply and maintain appropriate Isolation Precautions/PPE protocols
- Prepare and/or administer contrast media as required
- Start Peripheral IVs as needed
- Perform image post-processing techniques including Apparent Diffusion Coefficient mapping and subtraction
- Generate Maximum Intensity Projection (MIP) reconstructions and Multiplanar Reconstruction (MRP)
- Acquire and optimize Diffusion (non-brain), Gradient Echo Imaging, Spin Echo Images, T-1 Weighted Images, and T-2 Weighted Images
- Utilize Surface Coils appropriately for relevant body regions
- Document and communicate using EPIC (unit system for medication, documentation, and communication)
- Float to NHRMC and NHRMC Ortho as needed
- Report to work during catastrophic events, mass casualty incidents, or disasters as part of Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team assignments

Work Environment / Physical Requirements
- Night shift schedule: 6:30 PM 7:00 AM, Wednesday / Thursday / Friday (3x12 Hours)

- Mid-contract consolidation to Centralized Office may occur; pre-assignment to units as needed

- Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)
Important Notes
- RTO (Return to Origin) after booking is not allowed and is not allowed to be worked out onsite. Any call-offs or additional RTO on unit could possibly result in a contract cancellation and DNR (Do Not Rehire).
- The expected start date is based on the facility schedule but is subject to change depending on class and trainer availability. Travelers may start on Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday of the first week, and must be fully available with no other commitments to accommodate any schedule changes. Missing any portion of orientation may result in a delayed or canceled start.
- The facility will confirm the final start date on the Tuesday prior to the start week.
- Unit Orientation: 8:00 AM 4:30 PM. Hospital Orientation takes place in week one; the traveler must be available for classes each day. 12 hours of unit orientation required.
