Job Summary:
Under the supervision of the IR Medical Director and/or IR Manager, incumbent performs a variety of invasive procedures, both diagnostic and therapeutic, by assisting the IR physician during procedures, and pre and post procedure. Must be able to perform independently and part of a progressive IR team to produce high quality images and excellent patient care. Participation in lean initiatives and other quality measures is required.
Education:
Required:
A graduate of an ARRT approved radiologic technology program. Reference: https://www.arrt.org/Education/ (compliant with all continuing education mandates).

BS Health Science related field
Experience:
Required:
Prior experience in Interventional Radiology or an intensive on-the-job training session in IR is required before taking call
Medical and/or hospital clinical experience
Advanced computer skills
Preferred:
EPIC EMR
Hospital Comprehensive Stroke Accreditation
Position Requirement(s): License/Certification/Registration
Required:
ARRT (R) certified (compliant with all continuing education mandates
BLS completed prior to going to the unit/ department and maintained going forward
Preferred:
ARRT (VI) and/or (CT)
ACLS certified
Department Position Summary:
Under the supervision of the IR Medical Director and/or IR Radiologist and the IR Manager, incumbent performs a variety of invasive procedures and assists the IR Interventionist with invasive procedures using advanced sterile technique. This position requires independent judgment and initiative in utilization of advanced computerized angiographic equipment to create high quality diagnostic images, along with pre and post care of the perioperative patient. Extensive communication with physician is required. Demanding On-call duty is required for the care of acute stroke patients which includes mechanical thrombectomy procedures, among others including embolization on emergent and trauma patients. This position requires knowledge to use multiple different types of radiographic equipment, ultrasound equipment, and various monitors to ensure quality care of the patient. The vascular interventional technologist is expected to use skills to promote excellent patient care and quality outcomes by participation in lean measures and a host of other quality measures.
The employee must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned unit. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age-specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in the unit's policies and procedures.
