Job SummaryRadiology Services Coordinator will support both inpatient and outpatient radiology operations. This role serves as the central operational hub of the department, ensuring seamless scheduling, patient flow, insurance processing, and communication. The Coordinator acts as a key liaison between nursing units, radiology staff, patients, and the Director of Radiology to deliver an efficient, high-quality imaging experience.Essential Functions
- Manage and adjust daily inpatient imaging schedules, including STAT and add-on studies.
- Coordinate with nursing units to ensure timely patient preparation, transport, and arrival.
- Monitor workflow, resolve scheduling conflicts, and communicate delays in real time.
- Verify imaging orders, confirm patient identity, and ensure clinical documentation is complete.
- Document exam status and maintain accurate logs within the EMR.
- Schedule and confirm imaging appointments (X-ray, CT, MRI, ultrasound, etc.).
- Provide preparation instructions and manage cancellations and reschedules.
- Verify insurance eligibility and obtain prior authorizations.
- Review orders for accuracy and coordinate corrections with referring providers.
- Check patients in/out, collect co-pays, reconcile daily payments, and maintain financial accuracy.
- Facilitate communication between patients and radiology staff to optimize flow and reduce wait times.
- Maintain a professional, clean, and welcoming reception environment.
- Provide administrative support to the Director of Radiology, including reports, scheduling, and data tracking.
- Assist with departmental metrics, meetings, onboarding, compliance documentation, and operational reporting.
- Maintain organized records, referrals, and department communications.
- Answer phones and respond to inquiries regarding imaging services.
- Ensure HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality.
- Support quality improvement initiatives and daily departmental operations.
- Practices Standard Precautions. Follows regulations, policies and guidelines on the prevention of infections; does not eat or drink in patient care areas.
- Maintains confidentiality of information; abides by HIPAA regulations.
- Maintains a professional image and follows Hospital’s policy on uniforms; consistently wears hospital ID.
- Demonstrates reliable, on-time attendance, which is an essential function of all jobs at Burke.

- Performs other job related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School Required
- Associate Degree Preferred
- 2+ years medical office or hospital experience Required
- Radiology experience Preferred
- Experience with insurance verification, authorizations, and payment collection.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and imaging procedures preferred
- Proficiency in EMR systems and Microsoft Office. EPIC experience preferred
- Strong organizational, communication, multitasking, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment
- Ability to work in fast-paced hospital environment with frequent patient interaction, regular standing/walking; occasional lifting up to 25 lbs.; Direct patient contact with required PPE use
Schedule
- Monday-Friday 9 am-5 pm with weekends as needed
