ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Demonstrates competency in the operation of all radiographic equipment.
  • Prepares the patient and work environment for the successful completion of radiographic examination.
  • Produces diagnostic radiographs according to department standards and protocols.
  • Practices all types of isolation, infection control procedures and universal precautions.
  • Performs basic patient care protocols according to department guidelines under the direction of the OR Charge Nurse and/or OR Manager.
  • Demonstrates effective communication skills.
  • Assists with emergency code situation in accordance with Center policies.
  • Demonstrates proper radiation safety procedures.
  • Complies with safety and emergency procedures consistent with Center policy.
  • Complies with all Center policies.
  • Participates in unit cost containment measures.

INFECTION CONTROL CATEGORY:

This Job is designated as a Category l job using the OSHA definitions. This means there are tasks that involve exposure to blood or other potentially infectious material. Use of appropriate protective measures is required for any employee engaged in Category l tasks.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and extreme heat, and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and risk of radiation.

The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.

REQUIREMENTS

Education: High School Diploma or GED

Satisfactory completion of AMA accredited program

Licensure/Certification: Certified by AART

Certified by State of Florida Radiation Control
