A Brief OverviewResponsible for operating radiologic equipment including c-arms and ERCP equipment to make clinical diagnostic images as directed by physicians. Performs routine diagnostic procedures according to established standards and practices.What you will do- Prepares patients and adjusts equipment for taking exposure. Positions patients for procedures. Works with physicians to obtain optimal images.
- Determines proper voltage and current and desired exposure time and practices ALARA. Adjusts lead shield to protect unaffected parts of the body from exposure to radiation. Selects DR plate and inserts into holder if applicable or improvises method to assure appropriate set-up. Positions equipment at proper distance and angles from body to specified area. Activates machinery from safety of protective enclosure or while shielded. Arrange, attach or adjust immobilization and support devices (e.g. sand bags, binders, tape to obtain precise position, prevent patient movement and lessen discomfort).
- Operates c-arm equipment to provide quality images for the surgeons.
- Coordinates surgery schedules to assure surgeons receive excellent radiology service.
- Performs clerical duties (In House PACS and Teleradiology Competent).
- Takes x-ray images in other areas of the hospital with portable equipment Transport equipment to areas such as operating room, emergency room, and patient rooms. Observe sterile techniques and complete procedures promptly.
- Assists with staff/student on-the-job training and orientation. Mentors and assists in the education of students enrolled in the School of Radiological Technology.
- Produces high quality images via digital imaging and presents the images satisfactorily for Radiologist interpretation.
- Assists with the collection and maintenance of records as needed by the Radiology Department, Quality Assurance, Joint Commission accreditation, OSHA guidelines or as required by law.
- Associate's or certification from an accredited School of Radiology
- Radiography (R) - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) within 60 Days
- 1-3 years Related experience in surgery
