Level II is intended for candidates with at least 1 year of radiographic experience, current ARRT certification, and advanced clinical competency. Radiographers at this level are expected to acquire and maintain super user status across all radiographic equipment (fixed and mobile), fluoroscopy units, and perioperative imaging systems such as the O-Arm and 3D C-Arm. They also demonstrate proficiency in all imaging software platforms and provide training to peers as needed. In addition, Level II technologists are knowledgeable in pediatric subspecialties, including mobile imaging techniques and Non-Accidental Trauma (NAT) studies. Job SummaryUnder general supervision, performs general radiographic and fluoroscopic examinations at a technical level that does not require direct supervision. The Radiologic Technologist Intern II is a graduate of an accredited radiologic technology program who is awaiting registry certification. Performs a variety of technical imaging procedures that entail the application of ionizing radiation to produce diagnostic images for interpretation by a radiologist.Essential Functions:

  • Performs high quality general radiographic/fluoroscopic imaging studies by selecting specific software parameters that will produce a quality image for use by radiologists in their determination of a diagnosis. To provide the necessary data for radiologists to interpret images, the technologist scans all relevant clinical information into the PACS, assigns prioritization box for the radiologists’ worklist, and then transmits current to the PACS. These activities must be completed immediately following examination completion, not to exceed 1 hour. Prepares and assists in administering contrast agents and determines any potential allergies to ensure compliance with departmental practices. (50%)
  • Uses Epic to input patient examination data and to place patient orders, when appropriate. Notates within the appropriate electronic/hardcopy document, as necessary, all pertinent patient information to comply with patient screening, ordering, charting, and medical record requirements (15%)
  • Ensures patient safety, comfort, and personal dignity by following appropriate patient care guidelines to include use of 2 patient identifiers. Transports patients to and from the Department of Radiology, as needed, to prevent patient flow delays. (15%)
  • Attends and participates in departmental huddles, general intradepartmental meetings, and Radiology’s in-services. (10%)
  • Maintains imaging and processing equipment by performing scheduled cleanings and tests; results of all cleanings and tests are documented, as appropriate. Contacts service personnel and notifies supervisory staff of equipment malfunctions. Maintains a clean and orderly working environment through wiping down examination tables, changing linens, stocking supplies, and washing/disinfecting general radiographic equipment. (5%)
  • Maintains imaging and processing equipment by performing scheduled cleanings and tests; results of all cleaning and tests are documented, as appropriate. Contacts service personnel and notifies supervisory staff of equipment malfunctions. (5%)

Education:

  • Must have successfully completed an accredited ARRT program in Radiologic Technologies

Work Experience:

  • None required.

Licenses:

  • BLS-Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) - AHA - American Heart Association or American Red Cross Required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated knowledge in how to operate general radiographic/fluoroscopic equipment and related technology.
  • Demonstrated competency in the performance of general radiographic/fluoroscopy imaging studies.
  • Knowledge of how to address age-specific needs of patients.
  • Effective interpersonal skill sets that lead to productive communications and collaborations.
  • Competency in interpreting physician order requests for general radiographic/fluoroscopic imaging studies.
  • Ability to exercise prudent judgment in selecting and configuring equipment settings to compensate for patient physiologic variances.
  • Ability to consistently procedure quality images of various anatomical structures.
