Job Description
- Prep railcars like a pro: Inspect and secure chocks (tie-down devices), open/close doors, adjust decks and grates, and clear tracks with a backpack blower for smooth loading.
- Spot and flag defects so our repair teams can keep everything safe and up to AAR standards.
- Physically engage with the job: Bend, squat, lean, lift and move bridge plates to connect railcars—perfect for anyone who thrives on movement and variety.
- Follow top-notch safety protocols and PRS Auto processes every step of the way—safety is our #1 priority, and we back it up with training and support.
- Mostly first shift, but flexibility is key—schedules can vary, and you'll need to be available for weekends and holidays when the cars are rolling out.
- Work outdoors in all weather (rain, snow, sun—Detroit's full range!).
- Physical demands: Lift up to 50 lbs overhead, climb ladders/heights (no fear of heights!), and stay active all shift.
- Live within a 45-minute commute of the Spring Hill, TN area? Wait—no, the posting says Detroit, MI at Norfolk Southern Jefferson Assembly Plant. (Note: Local candidates only—no relocation or out-of-area applicants considered.)
- Valid Driver's License.
- Pass a 7-year background check and drug test.
- Comfortable working outside, lifting, climbing—no high school diploma or GED required.
