Job Description

Work Shift:

7:00am - 5:30pm (4 Ten Hour Shifts) / Call RotationPerforms duties involving patient care and operation of highly sophisticated radiographic and computer equipment in the interventional cardiac catheterization laboratory. Responsible for assisting cardiologist/electrophysiologist during diagnostic and interventional procedures. Provides for the comfort and well-being of the patient while in the HMC Cardiac Cath Lab. Becomes proficient in the operation of all cardiovascular related equipment and in the performance of any related duties of cardiovascular procedures. Assists with PI, P&P and staff education. Liaison for out of hospital correspondence with physicians and multiple companies regarding order management. Coordinates and directs procedural inventory control for the department. Will perform in other areas of Cardiology/Electrophysiology including Holter/Event monitoring hook-up/retrieval, IABP, Fluoroscopy, Pacemakers, Imaging, and hemodynamic monitoring. Call rotation required with immediate response and 30-minute arrival time from notification. Responsible for carrying out the mission, vision, and quality commitment of Emory Healthcare.Education & Training:High school graduate or GED equivalent. Completion of an approved Cardiovascular Tech or Radiology Tech program.Experience:None for Cardiovascular Tech. Rad Tech must have one (1) year interventional experience.Required Certification/Registration/Licensure:Current AHA/ARC BLS required. AHA ACLS/ARC ALS certification required or obtained within 9 months of employment. RT (ARRT) or RCIS (CCI) certification required or obtained within 9 months of employment. Successful completion of an HHC Basic Rhythm Interpretation Course or CLEP Exam within nine (9) months of hire.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:Knowledge of cardiac interventions such as, but not limited to; Percutaneous cardiac balloon procedures, stents, IVUS, Flow Wire, IABP insertion, ACT, pericardiocentesis, mechanical and manual thrombectomy devices, hemodynamic monitoring, EKG interpretation and the ability to apply critical care thinking and application in an emergency situation. Knowledge and experience in EKG interpretation, invasive lines, and sterile techniques.
