Overview
Job Description
Since 1964, the Northwest Regional Re-Entry Center (NWRRC) has been a nonprofit leader in structured reentry services, operating a 150-bed co-ed residential center in Portland, Oregon. We support, educate, and encourage justice-involved residents as they transition back to the community with improved life skills, accountability, and safety for all.
As a Resident Re-Entry Specialist, you will provide 24-hour supervision and monitoring of residents in our facility and during approved community activities. This is a security-focused role that works to maintain a safe, secure, and structured environment while enforcing rules, managing an approved pass system, and balancing accountability with dignity and respect. Some duties are gender-specific (e.g., conducting same-gender pat-down searches and observed urinalysis) due to the facility's co-ed nature. This is an ideal position for those interested in criminal justice, corrections, social services, behavioral health, security, or reentry support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor resident behavior and activities 24/7 to ensure compliance with facility rules and regulations; supervise resident activities and document unusual or concerning behaviors.
- Maintain a secure and orderly environment through regular facility/perimeter patrols, headcounts/accountability counts, and searches of resident rooms, property, vehicles, phones, personal items, and residents (including pat-downs).
- Conduct same-gender pat-down searches and observed urine collection/breathalyzer testing for residents and contract clients.
- Control and dispense resident medications, self-carry medications, and controlled food supplements.
- Administer an automated system to track resident accountability during approved absences (e.g., work, social passes); document telephonic and in-person communications with entries and notations.
- Monitor electronic monitoring (GPS) reports for residents in the community and on home confinement.
- Maintain sanitation of the facility and grounds through monitoring resident chores.
- Control all entry and exit into the facility to ensure security; manage visitor procedures.
- Respond to emergencies swiftly and appropriately.
- Serve as the first point of contact for law enforcement, U.S. Marshals, U.S. Probation Officers, Bureau of Prisons personnel, and other related agencies.
- Maintain accurate incident logs, documentation of all facility activities, and serve as the information center for resident activities-responding to and reporting on all incidents.
Compensation & Benefits (for Full-Time Employees)
- Starting Hourly Rate: $26.97
- Healthcare: 100% employer-covered medical, vision, dental premiums for employees; 50% for spouse/dependents (includes life/AD&D/long-term disability).

- Tuition Assistance: Up to 50% for related degrees/certificates (after 6 months).
