Overview System One is seeking to contract with a Reactor Enclosure System (RES) Fabrication Manager who will be responsible for leading a geographically diverse team focused on the design for fabrication, reactor fabrication oversight, and assembly of the reactor equipment supporting our client’s project. The RES Fabrication Manager reports directly to the Manager of RES Delivery, and works primarily with the RES design team, procurement teams, reactor component fabricators, construction and services vendors. The successful candidate will engage with and coordinate a team working on the reactor and it’s interfacing systems as part of a high-performing team of professionals.
Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate a geographically diverse team focused on design for fabrication, reactor fabrication oversight, and assembly of reactor equipment.
- Support the development and delivery of integrated reactor equipment and its components from design through field construction and startup, ensuring safety and reliability.
- Develop and manage the complete fabrication lifecycle, including design for fabrication, construction and fabrication drawings, specifications, and testing/inspection plans.
- Ensure material and weld specifications are developed, approved, and implemented effectively.
- Coordinate reactor materials acquisition strategies and manage procurement schedules, including long lead items.
- Advising on fabrication and assembly schedules, and interfacing with design, metrology, and coordinate systems during fabrication phases.
- Oversee resolution of non-conformance reports and engineering changes, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory criteria (e.g., ASME BPVC Sect III and XI).
- Interface with regulators, stakeholders, and customers regarding design, fabrication, and regulatory issues.
- Coordinate with project teams and support organizations for cohesive design and fabrication strategies; review deliverables for quality and completeness.
- Provide technical oversight for fabrication and construction activities, ensuring successful component delivery.
- B.S. in Mechanical or related discipline from an accredited university
- 8+ years of experience with large component fabrication/construction methods and processes, or M.S. with similar experience
- Experience working under quality standards such as ASME NQA-1 or ISO 9001
- Past experience with heavy mechanical/pressure vessel fabrication, overseeing suppliers and subcontractors in similar roles
- Knowledge of ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code Sections VIII and III
- Experience with welding, weld qualification, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (ASME Y14.5M) is desirable
- Exceptional communication skills and ability to manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision
