Job Description

Burr & Forman LLP has an immediate opening in our Bluffton, SC office for a full-time, experienced real estate paralegal. This position requires knowledge of all aspects of real estate closings from start to finish. KEY CONTRIBUTIONS

  • Review and analyze abstract and title documents in order to assist in preparation for commercial real estate closings
  • Review loan documents from lenders for the purpose of preparing commercial real estate closings
  • Draft closing disclosures, deeds, affidavits, legal descriptions, HUD, and other required closing documents
  • Establish, organize and maintain files, closing documents, document binders, and lists
  • Prorate taxes and other property assessments
  • Conduct research and locate tax information, zoning, development regulations, and other information
  • Assist in the preparation of closings by preparing executable closing documents, disbursement requests, and correspondence
  • Serve as a liaison between clients, realtors, lenders, abstractors, title underwriter, and attorney
  • Maintain and balance incoming and outgoing closing funds
  • Other responsibilities as needed

THE ESSENTIALS

  • A bachelor's degree, paralegal degree or certification, and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • At least three years of experience in real estate transactions is required
  • Proficiency in Qualia preferred; MS Word, Excel, and Outlook is required
  • Highly organized, detail-orientated, proactive with a desire to take ownership as a contributing member of the team.
  • Balance competing priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment, exercising patience and professionalism during stressful situations
  • Strong communication and drafting skills
  • Must work well in a collaborative legal team environment
  • Some overtime may be required
