Job Description
Our client is a nationally recognized accounting and advisory firm with a strong valuation and financial modeling practice serving start-ups, private and public companies, venture capital and private equity firms, attorneys, and estates. They are seeking a Real Estate Valuation Manager to manage and deliver real estate valuation engagements within their well-established valuation practice. This role works closely with senior practice leadership to oversee engagement execution, mentor junior team members, and maintain strong relationships with clients across a range of valuation needs.
This is a hybrid role, and candidates must be able to come into one of these office locations 50% of the time: San Ramon (CA), Atlanta (GA), Austin, Seattle/Bellevue (WA), Boca Raton (FL), Boise (ID), Brunswick (GA), greater Los Angeles area (CA), Chicago (IL), Dallas (TX), Denver (CO), Duluth (GA), Irvine/Orange County (CA), Long Island (NY), Nashville (TN), New York City (NY), Philadelphia (PA), Salt Lake City (UT), San Francisco (CA), San Jose (CA), Scranton (PA), St. Charles (MO), St. Louis (MO), or White Plains (NY)
Responsibilities:
- Manage and deliver real estate valuation engagements supporting financial reporting, tax compliance, transaction support, regulatory requirements, and management decision-making
- Perform and review valuation analyses using income, cost, and market approaches
- Review third-party appraisal reports in support of audit and financial reporting engagements
- Supervise, coach, and mentor analysts and senior analysts, providing technical guidance and reviewing work product
- Review financial models, valuation assumptions, and supporting analyses to ensure quality and compliance with professional standards
- Partner with senior practice leadership to manage engagement scope, budgets, timelines, and deliverables
- Serve as a primary point of contact for clients throughout the valuation process and maintain strong relationships
- Contribute to the development and refinement of valuation templates, methodologies, and practice resources
- Collaborate across service lines to identify cross-selling opportunities and deliver integrated client solutions
- Track engagement-level metrics, including utilization, realization, and profitability
- Participate in business development activities, including networking, proposal support, and referral source development
- Foster a positive team culture while upholding the firm's ethical and professional standards
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in business, accounting, finance, real estate, economics, statistics, mathematics, or engineering
- Minimum of 5 years of real estate valuation experience gained at a valuation firm, public accounting firm, consulting firm, or real estate appraisal firm
- One of the following professional designations: MAI, ASA, CPA, CFA, CEIV, CVFI, ABV, or CVA
- Demonstrated experience resolving external review issues, including auditor, regulatory, or third-party appraisal review comments
- Experience managing real estate valuation engagements and serving as a primary point of contact for clients
- Proficiency performing and reviewing valuation analyses using income, market, and cost approaches
- Ability to build external relationships and contribute to business development initiatives
- Experience supervising, mentoring, and reviewing the work of valuation professionals
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deliver high-quality work on time and within budget
- 7+ years of real estate valuation experience and/or an MAI designation strongly preferred, ideally gained at a national valuation firm, Top 20 public accounting firm, or national real estate appraisal practice
Compensation: Targeting a base salary of $115-$180k (DOE) + bonus
