Description

Position Summary: The Receiving & Shipping Clerk adds value to BAPI and the Materials Team by ensuring Production has the raw materials necessary to build BAPI products by promptly receiving raw material and moving to the correct inventory location. In addition, the Receiving and Shipping Clerk supports the Shipping Cell by properly packaging products and correctly shipping BAPI products via commercial carriers. In some instances, depending on production needs, this individual may assist on the production floor building products to specification and/or assisting with monthly inventory.

Principle Responsibilities:

Receive BAPI raw material and parts

  • Promptly receive raw material and parts by verifying proper count and condition using shipping paperwork
  • Correctly enter material receiving information into the purchasing system
  • Correctly label material and parts and then promptly move items to the appropriate inventory location
  • Work with purchasing and the production planner to resolve any material receipt issues
  • Participate with inventory management using established inventory management system

Ship BAPI products correctly via commercial carriers

  • Pack BAPI products in a quality manner for shipment to customers without damage
  • Ship packages using commercial software (UPS, Fed Ex, Speedee, etc…)
  • Work with Customer Service and Production Scheduler to resolve any shipping issues
  • Work with Picker and Printer to resolve any order issues
  • Perform picking operation: picking products to order, verifying the correct part numbers and quantities have been picked
  • Work with Supervisor: Inform when shipping supplies may be running low. Maintain Finished Goods Inventory organized by location
  • Communicate with appropriate individual in the Materials Dept. if inventory locations require update

Builds products to specification

  • Follow the direction of Trainers and SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) for each task
  • Follow the direction of Cell Leaders for what is worked on and when
  • Use the appropriate tool or tools for each job
  • Consult the appropriate BOM and on-line print before proceeding with each task
  • Solder, strip and crimp wires, pot (apply waterproofing materials), calibrate, and assemble as directed.
  • Use time wisely and move from task to task efficiently
  • Consult sufficient online and paper documentation to do accurate in-process inspections for self and others
  • Transitions from jobs within cells and is able to perform duties in 2-3 cells
  • Cooperates in the overall task of getting products shipped on time

Follows Instructions for participation in inventory

  • Depending on the area assigned, it is expected that during inventory the employee will accurately count parts, correctly document quantity counted, and may also audit counts of others or help scanning product

Requirements

Education Requirements (R/Required, P/Preferred):

(R) High School Diploma or GED

Degrees Preferred:

Training, Skills, Knowledge and Experience

Specific Training in this field (R/Required, P/Preferred):

  • (R) At least 1-year prior raw material and part receiving experience
  • (R) Experience in operating with a Kanban (or similar) inventory management system
  • (P) Understanding of basic electronics

Experience/Knowledge in this field (R/Required, P/Preferred):

  • (P) 1-3 years of receiving/shipping experience

General Experiences/Knowledge/Skills:

  • (R) Must be detail oriented and have the ability to multi-task.
  • (R) Demonstrated ability to take initiative and identify process improvements
  • (R) Able to use computer/technology to enter data
  • (R) Able and willing to monitor own work for quality
  • (R) Demonstrated positive attitude, cooperation and willingness to take direction and work with people
  • (R) Must be able to work long hours as needed.
  • Exceptional communication skills, demonstrated ability to communicate respectfully, culturally competent and collaboratively
  • Excellent Ability to communicate in verbal, written and electronic forms in a professional manner when working with employees, vendors and company contacts
