Overview
Job Description
- Coordinates entire patient portal process including providing direct patient education and customer service on accessing and navigating the patient portal, providing patients with timely electronic access to their personal health information, and assisting patients and care providers with computer access, internet, password, and login information. This position is responsible for troubleshooting any patient portal issues, including but not limited to incorrect or missing information. This position will also require face to face contact with patients as necessary.
- Uses knowledge and portal experience to provide input for content of portal marketing tools. Ensures areas are appropriately stocked with marketing tools for the patient portal.
- Promotes portal utilization for both portals and monitors our Portal Utilization rates to keep at or above goal.
- Assists the Documentation Compliance Coordinator in facilitating the amendment process. Inserts documents into closed charts by processing the Closed Chart Worklist.
- Knows Florida’s record retention rules, and managing our records management process, including management of electronic record and paper record destruction on site and off site; Maintains destruction log to report to the state if necessary. Keeps updated log of all records stored off site so that they are easily retrieved when necessary. Works with other departments and Parrish Medical Group offices to provide education and training on the destruction of departmental records. Provides information to leadership regarding records held and records planned to destroy for the upcoming year so that it can be included in the budget.
- Maintains confidentiality of protected health information and is familiar with HIPAA law.
- Maintains the integrity of the Master Patient Index by finding and merging duplicate patient records.
- Performs similar or related duties as assigned.
- Knows fire, disaster and safety procedures and regulations as it pertains to the work area
- Associates degree required. May consider High School/GED with > 5 years of relevant experience in lieu of AA; Bachelors degree preferred. Degree/Major preferred: Health Information Management or job-related field.

- Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or other job related certificate that is approved by Human Resources and Health Information Management preferred.
