Major/Essential Functions

  • Develop an optimized human cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (hCFTR) sequence for use in human gene therapy that maximizes biogenesis and gating efficiencies while minimizing protein length and non-native point mutations.
  • Culture mammalian cells, Western blots, fluorescence microscopy, and cell-based assays, including ELISA and chloride channel activity measurements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in flow cytometry and the detection of fluorescence and luminescence probes.
  • Experience with CFTR(Cystic Fibrosis Transmembrane Conductance Regulator) literature.
  • Familiarity with laboratory equipment and sensitive substances (such as CFTR correctors and potentiators)
  • Experience with Excel, ChemiDoc, and ChemiQuant analyses.

Visa Information

TTUHSC, at its sole discretion, may initiate new H-1B I-129 visa petitions in accordance with the directive issued by Governor Abbott. Approval from the Texas Workforce Commission is required. On a limited, case-by-case basis, the institution may also sponsor eligible individuals for change-of-status or change-of-employer petitions for qualifying positions. TTUHSC will not pay the $100,000 fee, if applicable.
