Specific Job Information:

The FWP Regional Headquarters in Missoula serves as the administrative center for regional employees and volunteers. FWP Regional Headquarters manages abundant wildlife, fisheries, and parks programs across seven regions of Montana and supports the overall success of these programs. The Regional Headquarters office is the primary contact for the general public with the department and provides information on rules, regulations, statutes, recreational opportunities, and other general information across all divisions (i.e., Parks, Enforcement, Wildlife, Fisheries, Human Resources, Comm Ed) within the department, whether in person, electronically/virtually, or via telephone.

Job Duties:

The Regional Office Manager reports to the Administrative Support Operations Bureau Chief and supports the Regional Supervisor and regional programs. This position ensures the security of the regional building and grounds; coordinates operations and maintenance of the headquarters facility; monitors expenditures for the Operations & Financial Services Division's budgets; and assists in developing Executive Planning Process budget requests. The Regional Office Manager coordinates with program managers on budget formulation, work planning, and facility maintenance to achieve regional goals and objectives.

The Office Manager supervises, trains, and supports three full-time employees and occasional work-study or temporary employees. This team provides a high level of customer service to the public regarding laws, regulations, and rules related to hunting, fishing, trapping, hunter education, bow hunter education, parks and recreation, fire restrictions, license sales, drawing applications, hunting access programs, website navigation, and referrals to appropriate outside agencies. The Office Manager oversees and directs financial processing of license remittances and recreational-use fees; provides administrative support to the Regional Supervisor; manages schedules and logistics for headquarters meeting rooms; supports planning and logistics for regional, Citizen's Advisory Council meetings, etc.

The Office Manager independently manages multiple priorities and deadlines, maintains reliable follow-through, communicates proactively, and exercises sound judgment in day-to-day operations. The position requires strong situational awareness to recognize emerging issues, changing priorities, sensitive dynamics, and potential operational, facility, visitor, or workplace-safety concerns, and to take appropriate action or elevate matters when needed.

The Office Manager manages regional records, procurement, inventory, and the appropriate disposal of obsolete equipment. The position supports administrative processes associated with MEPA, permitting, public comment, Commission meetings, Parks Board meetings, and other public-facing or regulatory work. The Office Manager applies agency policies and procedures consistently; handles financial, personnel, and other sensitive information with discretion; and demonstrates sound stewardship of public resources.

This position builds productive working relationships across divisions, programs, work units, and regions. The Office Manager brings a collaborative, agency-wide team mindset, recognizing that effective regional operations rely on shared ownership, timely communication, and a willingness to support colleagues beyond traditional organizational boundaries. The position requires professional communication, constructive problem solving, and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of personalities and perspectives. The Office Manager contributes to a positive, inclusive, and cohesive regional culture by valuing diverse viewpoints, supporting employee success, and providing effective supervision, mentorship, and team building.

Minimum Qualifications (Education and Experience):

The knowledge, skills, and abilities of this position are normally attained through combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree in Business administration and at least 3 years of job-related experience. Other combinations of education and experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
