Position: Registered Nurse

Shift: D/N Rotating 3X12hr.
Guaranteed hours: 36 per week | 12 hours per day
Every other weekend required
Gross Weekly: $2900.16 (Breakdown below)
- Non-taxable meals & lodging stipends- $1,512.00
- Taxable hourly- $38.56 on W2
- Overtime hourly- $57.84

Unit Overview Medical Specialties Unit: This unit primarily cares for medical patients rather than surgical populations, managing a wide range of acute and chronic medical conditions. Patient acuity varies and includes individuals requiring advanced monitoring, complex medication management, and specialized respiratory and renal care. The unit treats patients with conditions such as:

Sepsis and complex infectious diseases
Acute Kidney Injury (AKI) and Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD), including hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis
Diabetes and metabolic disorders
Gastrointestinal conditions
Fluid and electrolyte imbalances
Alcohol withdrawal and substance misuse
Liver disease
Endocarditis and other cardiac conditions
Skin integrity issues and complex wound care
Acute and chronic respiratory illnesses including COPD, influenza, pneumonia, and Cystic Fibrosis
The facility is a nationally recognized Cystic Fibrosis (CF) center, and adult CF patients requiring inpatient care are admitted to the Medical Specialties Unit.

Unit Layout:

1 East: 36 beds
2/3 East: 25 beds

Required Clinical Experience Candidates must be proficient in the care and management of the following: Monitoring & Devices

Telemetry monitoring
Chest tubes
Central line care, maintenance, and blood draws
Tracheostomies and laryngectomies
Lines, tubes, and drains (including post-surgical patients)

Medication & Infusion Management Continuous and intermittent drips including:

Diltiazem
Heparin
Lasix
Insulin
Amiodarone

Specialized Care

Complex wound management
Care of patients with high-acuity medical conditions
Management of patients with respiratory compromise and chronic pulmonary disease
