Job Description
- Assess, prepare, and educate patients prior to surgery.
- Perform pre-operative nursing assessments and review patient history, medications, and laboratory results.
- Initiate IV access and administer medications as ordered.
- Monitor patients during the recovery phase and provide post-anesthesia care.
- Assess pain, vital signs, and recovery progress while recognizing and responding to changes in patient condition.
- Provide discharge education to patients and caregivers, ensuring understanding of post-procedure instructions.
- Accurately document patient care in the electronic medical record.
- Collaborate with physicians, anesthesia providers, surgical staff, and interdisciplinary team members to deliver exceptional patient care.
- Maintain compliance with infection prevention, patient safety, accreditation, and regulatory standards.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and ongoing education.
- Current Florida Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Current BLS certification required; ACLS required or obtained within the required timeframe.
- Minimum of one (1) year of RN experience required; experience in Pre-Op, PACU, Critical Care, Emergency Department, or Ambulatory Surgery preferred.
- IV therapy proficiency and strong clinical assessment skills.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and patient education abilities.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
