Registered Nurse needed for growing OBGYN practice with job location in CHEYENNE, WYOMING.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Reviews patient medical record for completeness and updates as necessary prior to patient visit.
  • Interviews patients, measures vital signs, such as pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height, and records information on patients' charts.
  • Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients.
  • Drapes patients with covering and positions instruments and equipment.
  • Hands instruments and materials to doctor as directed.
  • Provides case management oversight to identified patients as assigned by physicians (i.e. follow-ups, etc.)
  • Cleans and sterilizes instruments.
  • Inventories and orders medical supplies and materials.
  • Assists in preparing patients and operates equipment to administer routine diagnostic tests or calls medical facility or department to schedule patients for tests.
  • Gives injections, vaccinations, and/or treatments, and performs routine laboratory tests.
  • Keys data into computer to maintain office and patient records
  • Maintains, tracks and records information regarding lab tests, pharmacy items, etc. as required.
  • Maintains and performs quality controls on equipment as needed.
  • Obtains Advance Beneficiary Notices as required.
  • Assists in pulling patient information to ensure all information is available to providers at time of appointment.
  • Responsible for calling lab, radiology, etc. results to patients according to applicable policies and procedures.
  • Assists in quality improvement activities including, but not limited to, chart reviews, payer requirements, CMS guidelines, etc
  • Attends and participates in approved/requested committees and meetings.
  • Maintains current clinical knowledge and skills through in-services, workshops and/or seminars.
  • Demonstrates flexibility in adjusting to variable workload and job duties.
  • Participates in maintaining an organized and clean department and safe work environment.
  • Abides by the strict confidentiality policy of the clinic.
  • Treats patients, fellow employees, and visitors with respect and dignity at all times.
  • Any other duties as assigned.

Secondary Job Responsibilities, as needed:

  • Handles all triage calls in coordination with providers on site and documents encounter for provider signature.
  • Responds to all medical telephone inquiries including, but not limited to, prescription refill requests, lab results requests, radiology result requests, etc. and documentation of same
  • Serves as contact nurse for all hospital and outside issues, including documentation of provider instructions, orders needed, etc
  • Assists in indigent programs and resources for patients in need of assistance.
  • Performs scheduling and follow-up of additional testing, consultations, etc. at other facilities.
  • Provides guidance to medical assistants, LPNS and administrative personnel as needed.
  • Administers blood products (RhoGam) according to standards of care and practice policies and procedures, and responds/intervenes appropriately in the event of reaction to blood product.

Education: RN. Completion of nursing training from an accredited school of nursing. BSN preferred.

Experience: Minimum one year of professional nursing experience. Clinic experience preferred. Labor & Delivery Experience a plus!

Other Requirements: Current state registered nurse license. Must possess a current CPR certification and current health records with the appropriate immunizations to work in the health care field (hepatitis B and tuberculosis).

Performance Requirements:

Attendance: Normal work schedule is Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m, Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., or as practice needs dictate.

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of nursing processes; health care systems, structure, and functions; and community resources. Understanding of health care technology, equipment, and supplies. Familiarity with state law on nursing care, nurse practice guidelines, and clinic policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of wellness/illness, growth and development, human behavior, psychosocial factors, and alternative health care treatments.
  • Knowledge of chart/medical record documentation requirements and federal/state laws related to release of health care information.

Skills:

  • Skill in time management, problem solving, multitasking, prioritizing, and medical care coordination.
  • Skill in initiating appropriate crisis interventions and emergency response.
  • Skill in patient triage in person and on the phone.
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Familiar with electronic health records and practice management systems.

Abilities:

  • Ability to read and interpret physicians’ orders and notes from other providers.
  • Ability to calculate and administer drug dosages and injections and measure results.
  • Ability to work in varied and changing environment.

Equipment Operated: Standard nursing equipment and supplies. Standard office equipment including phones, copiers, computers, etc.

Work Environment: Medical exam/treatment rooms and medical offices. Controlled lighting, acoustics, air quality, and temperature settings. Environmental hazards may be unpredictable including exposure to communicable diseases and biohazards.

Mental/Physical Requirements: Involves standing, walking, bending, grasping, manipulating, and squatting. Occasional need to lift patient during transfer/turn process with or without assistance. Stress can be triggered by workload and complex cases.
