Job Description
- Competitive Compensation: $44.06 per hour
- Work Schedule: 7:30 AM - 5:00 PM CDT (includes a 30-minute break) – Per-diem

- Education: Completion of an accredited Registered Nursing (RN) program (Associate's or Bachelor's degree).
- Licensure: Active Louisiana state RN license and current BLS Certification. ACLS and NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification are required.
- Experience: At least one year of relevant experience is required.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in continuous hemodynamic monitoring, ventilator management, EVD (external ventricular drain) management, ICP (intracranial pressure) monitoring, administration of titratable vasoactive and sedative drips, and rapid neurologic assessment (Glasgow Coma Scale).
- Soft Skills: Exceptional critical thinking and rapid decision-making abilities; calm under pressure; strong attention to detail; excellent communication with multidisciplinary teams and families.
- Perform comprehensive and frequent neurologic assessments, including pupil checks, motor/sensory function, cranial nerve evaluation, and GCS scoring.
- Monitor and manage patients with stroke (tPA administration, post-thrombectomy care), TBI, status epilepticus, brain tumors, and post-craniotomy.
- Manage invasive monitoring devices such as ICP monitors, EVDs, and arterial lines.
- Titrate continuous IV infusions (propofol, nicardipine, levetiracetam, mannitol, hypertonic saline, and vasopressors).
- Operate and troubleshoot ventilators; maintain airway patency and manage secretions.
- Collaborate with neurosurgeons, neurologists, respiratory therapists, and bedside staff for timely interventions.
- Provide emotional support and education to families regarding complex neurologic conditions and prognosis.
- Maintain rapid response readiness for acute neurologic deterioration, including herniation syndromes or status epilepticus.
- Document all assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately in the EMR.
