Lakeview Hospital is seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our OB/Peds/Med Surg team. In this role, the RN will provide high-quality, patient-centered care while collaborating with interdisciplinary team members to ensure safe, efficient, and effective treatment for patients across obstetrics, pediatrics, and medical-surgical services. The ideal candidate demonstrates clinical excellence, strong communication skills, and a commitment to delivering exceptional patient experiences.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Patient Care & Clinical Practice
- Facilitates and maintains a safe environment for patients, families, visitors, and staff.
- Utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans.
- Performs priority technical procedures required by the department safely, effectively, efficiently, and legally.
- Establishes and revises priorities for patient care activities based on patient acuity, resource availability, patient/family preferences, and departmental needs.
- Coordinates and delegates patient care activities appropriately while supervising assigned unit personnel.
Communication & Collaboration
Communicates patient information through proper hand-off and escalation procedures to ensure continuity of care.
Reports significant patient information including:
Changes in patient condition
Assessment findings
Laboratory and diagnostic results
Intake and output
Nutritional needs
Patient/family/team concerns
Equipment issues and safety concerns
Keeps patients and families informed and provides timely updates regarding care and treatment plans.
Collaborates with interdisciplinary team members to identify and implement improvements in patient care delivery.
Seeks guidance, supervision, and consultation when necessary to ensure safe and effective patient care.
Quality & Performance Improvement
- Supports LCMC Health performance improvement initiatives and quality standards.
- Consistently follows infection prevention and control practices.
- Maintains the environment of care in accordance with Joint Commission requirements.
- Participates in quality improvement activities, audits, and review processes.
Customer Service & Teamwork
- Demonstrates a positive attitude and commitment to patient satisfaction.
- Utilizes service recovery techniques to address patient and family concerns promptly and professionally.
- Recognizes customer needs and proactively assists in problem-solving.
- Contributes to a collaborative team environment by assisting coworkers as needed.
Qualifications
- Current valid Louisiana RN license or temporary permit to practice professional nursing in Louisiana.
- American Heart Association (AHA) BLS-HCP certification required.
Additional Certifications (Department Specific)
- MICU Department: Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) required.
- Med/Surg, Oncology, Hematology Oncology, Clinic Oncology, Oncology Infusion:
Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certification issued by the Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) or ONCC within 2 years of hire.
- Perioperative Nursing:
Certified Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (CMSRN) certification preferred/required as applicable.
